So I am working on a deal with a local guy on craigslist for a HF plasma cutter.

The price is $200 for model 92652.

He tells me it worked great, but has been sitting in his garage for 2 years...

The kicker is that is needs a 240 plug wired to it, so I cannot test it on site.

Would you be worried about it?, what could go wrong with it sitting for 2 years un used?

Its a smokin deal if it works....

    but its a gamble.

    Thanks

    Justin

To to Home Depot and buy a dryer plug and take it with. If he wants to sell, he would let u install plug and test.

If it's been sitting, there is a possibility of moisture in the air lines-especially if it wasn't filtered properly. Otherwise, shouldn't be anything really wrong with it.

Can you still get consumables and replacement parts for the box? If you can't get those easily, I'd reconsider. Otherwise, price is good and it seems like an OK deal.

I've found a few hypertherms in my area for under 500. Maybe just wait for a name brand plasma to pop up?

thats the thing. I dont really need one at the moment and I have access to a Miller machine that a buddy has if I need, but I saw the deal and got to thinking...:)

It has an air drier on it in the pics he sent me. I might to pick up a plug and see if I can test it .

Would be nice to have when its needed

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I would buy the biggest compressor you can afford cfm wise and 2 stage. Quincy is by far the best of the best IMO I bought a 60gal 2 stage and it's been an amazing compressor. We upgraded our media blaster to a 500lb pressure pot and the little Quincy just can't handle blasting let alone all the other air we use. I was stuck in a pickle with my cfm load higher then my compressor can put out. So I bought a beast 120gal 2 stage 15hp 3 phase 50.2cfm Quincy and now we will be good. With the 120 and the 60 running we will be hitting 65cfm plenty for everything we do in the shop

Buy this and never look back http://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/Quincy-2V41C60VC-Air-Compressor/p855.html

This is my new one  http://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/Quincy-2153DS12HC46-Air-Compressor/p864.html

Jesus, 460V! Did you have to get an electrician in there to hook up a plug for that beast or what?

I have 460v 3 phase power in the shop. I did have to have them come out and run wires to where i wanted to put it.

I did order my first Quincy form them they ship direct and took about 16 days before it shipped. I got the new one form northern tool about a month ago and i still dont have it yet:(

Yeah blasting alone is 25cfm with the 3/16 nozzle and we have been running a 3/32 and the 60gal has a hard time keeping up with that by itself. Add the plasma, air cooled band saw, Die Grinder, Impact, 20ton press, and blow gun and were pushing 60cfm

Yeah I tried the one man thing it's not happening way too much crap to do for me alone. Hell the Toyota stuff alone I have 2 guys working on as all times. And with the full production of the race sim's I'm going to need about 3 to 5 more guys to keep up with demand. I guess it's a good problem to have

I'd love to check out the shop if I'm in the area I take trips to Norcal every so often. I was in concord on Tuesday.
