Mooching off parents sucks. We lived with my future in-laws for like a year and half to save for a house. It really blew big balls, but buying a house made it worth it. It really sucked, esp after college, having an apt for 2 years after. But houses are ftw, while being a never ending source of wallet draining.

It's easy to own a truck straight out when it's not brand new. He'll own it in a few years and for many many more years after that.

I paid $14,500 for mine with 55k on it back in August. I just walked into the bank and withdrew cash. Signed my paper work and walked away with a 03 Tacoma. Simple, no loans holding me down. Again not everyone is financially stable to drop 15G in the end on a vehicle I understand that. This is the first vehicle I've ever bought. My past 4 vehicles were bought for me 1 which I regretted even letting them buy me, Now my insurance is $4500 a year.
