If I lived alone, I would leave it loaded. I live in a nice area and my dog barking is probably the most active 'warning system' I've got. I more than likely wouldn't make it to my gun before an intruder made it to me

Have any of you guys shot or own a Walther P22 wither either barrel? I'm thinking of picking one up for a cheap .22LR pistol just to screw with at the range. Is it worth $300?

I actually like the Ruger MKIII but not sure I want to own one. The thing is a pain to tear down but I really enjoy shooting the little .22's. Fun to shoot, they don't beat you up at all (hardly no recoil) and you can shoot them all day and be out a whooping $20 in ammo :)

EDIT: Just called the gun shop and they have Ruger SR22's in stock also... I'm thinking I might go that route instead, they seem to have a better reliability rate than the Walther from the online reviews I've found.

 I'll bet they do hurt! I still haven't shot a 3" or 3.5" shell yet with mine. The 2-3/4" ones aren't bad, the 535's recoil pad works pretty damned well!

I was in Bass Pro last weekend and I couldn't believe the amount of accessories available for the 870 they had on the shelf! Nothing for my 535 :(

As far as the 22, I think I'm going to get the SR22. I'll post back later with results. I'm heading there after work tonight.

Go with the SR22. I bought one last spring and have nothing but praise for it. I've fed it several types of cartridges and only had a few FTEs with some CCI std velocity factory seconds that I have.

Try it with some of the cheap-ass ammo I shoot.

Seriously though, I was in the market for a mosquito until I heard they had issues with lesser quality ammo. No can do...I'm a whore when it comes to .22 ammo and will buy the cheapest stuff I can find for plinking.

Does she shoot much? How long has she had it? What cartridges does she shoot? I recently heard that Sig was changing the spring rate to allow smoother running with cheap ammo. I like the Mosquito, especially since they have a threaded barrel option. I may yet end up with one.

my cousins have the p22 with the short barrel and it runs flawlessly, i like the way it feels and it's decently accurate, i wouldn't hesitate to get one, but, i like the m&p 22 also, i haven't read anything bad about it and it fits an the m&p holsters so if you have a m&p you can train for cheap.

POS. Just not great build quality or shooting. I had part of the safety mechanism break in the internals. Picking it up from the gunsmith next week and ditching it to fund building up my Ruger 10/22. They have gained a bit of a reputation for slides cracking in half too. Tends to only be if you have the model with the fake compensator on the end, which I have.

Wish I could say I've had your experience with it. From what I've gathered they either work great or you end up with a lemon. I'll be saving for a Ruger Mark III variant for my .22 handgun.

Well, unfortunately I didn't get to read all your posts before I went out to the gun shop

Fortunately, now that I am reading all the posts, it sounds like I went with the right gun. I'm the proud owner of a Ruger SR22 :yay:

The guys at the shop were very nice, I asked about the Walther, the Mosquito and the SR22 and got the good, bad and ugly on all 3. I was that all are decent guns but over time, they have heard a lot less complaints about the SR22 compared to the other 2. They basically echoed all your posts, said some people run thousands of rounds through their Walthers and Mosquitos, others can't get rid of it fast enough due to constant FTFs and being picky about ammo.

I'll get pictures up soon :D

The mosquito comes with a lighter spring for the cheap stuff. I've only had the regular .22 problems with it. A stovepipe every few hundred rounds. We probably have a couple thousand through it at this point of various brands.

:) It's not half as bad as the raging bull I shot... I could shoot many hot and heavy 454 rounds through my alaskan before my wrist had enough. The grip is awesome on this gun, it's got a big vibrashock gel pad in just the right spot under the main grip. I plink with 45 colt rounds which feels like a 22 round coming out of this brick, so it's also fun.
