Glad I can be of assistance. The right tools can make the job go better and faster, and it this case, the right tools bought once are cheaper than paying for the labor for a single change.

    How true!

I had to buy a torque wrench, plug gapper
    and Anti-Sieze.

These items along with the plugs cost me about $65.00

Last time I paid to have the plugs replaced it cost me over $300, but that also included the air filter and cabin filters, which I will never pay to have replaced again.

Now, I need to look at doing my own break job.

Does this void your warranty if you do it yourself?

Unless you cause the damage by improperly changing the plugs, using the wrong plugs, getting the wiring harnesses to the stick coils wrong, breaking a stick coil, dropping a nut down the spark plug hole...

    Chris4X4,

Recently completed 30K spark plug change on my 2011 Pre-Runner w/V6. Your "step by step" made it far, far less complicated than it looked to be (my last experience was 4 cyl, 1999, Mazda p/u) and $189 cheaper than my local dealer would have charged. Thank you.

Just finished changing my spark plugs last night. Chris 4x4 those directions were awesome. I'm not the mechanical guy but got them changed in just over 2 hours. When Toyota changes out the plugs the first time would they use all the same plugs or denso for one side and ngk for the other like when it comes from factory? I pulled my plugs and the were different on both sides which I know is normal but just wondering if this is the first time the plugs have been changed. Thanks for saving me a crap load of money the dealship up here charges 123$/hr could only imagine what it would have been in the end. Once again thanks for the walk thru

most dealers use all Denso, while a few have been known to use all NGK. They never use 2 different brands when changing.

Guess that means there was 81000 miles on these sparks plugs. Will I see noticeable increase in performance now? The old plugs were gapped .065 to .074 with some heavy wear. Hard to judge what the engine is doing with that many miles on them. Guess I will see in 30000 what they look like again. Also how tight do you tighten down the coils?

You should see a return of MPG, and performance.

Just get a good 5/8 plug socket and some locking extensions. It will help keep you from breaking a nail.

Is it normal for the NGK to be more burned than the Denso ones?

NGK ones were tighter than the Denso ones. Kind of a pita to take them out
