Consumer Reports and JD Power stuff have little to do with actual sales numbers in this segment, which Tacoma dominates with over 50% of the market. Tacoma sold nearly 140,000 in 2012... next closest Frontier was under 60,000.

Consumer Reports. I saw that and I question anything they recomend now, I just can't use them as a reliable source for vehicles with those ratings.

I mean seriously, a freaking ridgline is there recomended and top rated midsize truck, WTF? The Tacoma isn't even recomeneded and is at the bottom, below the Ridgeline and the Frontier.

Does the Ridgeline even qualify as a truck? Who tested these vehicles? It sounds like someone in their 60s or 70s who should be driving a minivan or Mercury Grand Marque. I've never had trouble with "tricky access" getting in and out of my truck. My wife's Honda Civic is more fatiguing to drive than my Taco. I don't know what they are talking about a stiff suspension. If you want something to function as a truck, having a squishy Cadillac like suspension is a terrible idea.

I think Consumer Reports is probably getting a little kick back from Nissan and Honda to get higher scores and try to stay competitive.

Yeah, i don't know how anyone can consider A Ridgeline a Truck to begin with... It's pretty much A van with a bed

I know I may be preaching to deaf ears, but not everyone rates their truck off of offroad capabilities, etc...

Ridgline is a good vehicle and beats Tacoma in some ways and Tacoma beats Ridgline in others.

I have driven 1000 miles in a Ridgeline. It is a solid handling CAR with a rear deck. It is not a truck. Ever seen one used as a truck hauling anything ? me neither....

consumer reports is not relevant anymore to people who have access to the internet and can do deeper research

Tacoma is a friggin truck from hell with more community built around supporting what the
owner wants to do with it, than any other small truck. It stomps offroad right out of the box
    (by that, I mean a real-world scenarios....
you can crawl over some nasty stuff and keep a load of glass sliding doors in the back from breaking...
as a landscaper you can go to a multi-million dollar home and go anywhere on the property and not
tear it up....the list is endless how perfect new 4x4 Tacomas are....as trucks for like...actual work and stuffs)

While I'll agree that it probably rides better and is more comfy, I still would like to know how the ridgeline scores at the top of the list.
    Ridgeline: 79
    Tacoma: 50

I do not understand these reviewers. They act like a truck should ride like an Avalon but still be able to handle what ever work or off road conditions that you throw at it. Tough, work and off road ready suspension can not ride as smooth as my Avalon. That is why they are a truck. Maybe that is what they need, take an Avalon, remove the trunk lid and call it a truck. It could be a Toyota MountainLine.

I looked at some Frontiers before I bought my Tacoma. The Frontiers just felt cheap compared to the Taco. No wonder they cost less used.

I checked out a Frontier before buying the Taco. I just didn't like what I saw. First of all, you can't get the Nissan in a regular cab. Plus a 2wd, 5-speed Frontier with no a/c was still more than the Taco. Add another $1000 for the a/c/radio package and the price difference grew even more.

In the end The Taco just seemed like a better value. IMO, the Taco rides better and the engine feels stronger too.
