Yeah when I was in high school I met up with a few of my friends up in the mtns for a camping trip. When I pulled up (they had been there drinking for a while) I saw that they had an old international scout with a chain around the hitch and the other end around a tree and they were trying to jerk the poor thing out of the ground. I came up screaming at them and yelling and about fought one of my good buddies. I doubt I saved the tree's life, but my friends learned a bit about what is important to me and why I felt that way.

To lots of people they think "it's only one, and look how many trees are around here?!" But the thing I have to explain frequently is if everyone thought like that it wouldn't take long to deplete a forest, especially in a popular place like Moab or rmnp.

I think I have a winch figured out. Need to make a new mounting plate to go in a hitch receiver for it, but that part will be easy enough. The list of stuff needed for Moab is getting shorter.
Bob, how many days before this shindig gets going?

The CB is easy, the buddy is a whole different thing. especially finding one that is cool to hang out with 24hrs/day for the trip. And a trip like that smell becomes an issue. For you and her.

Anyway the CB is still on my list as well as a few other things, but I figure once I get the CB I could probably go as-is, just might not be able to do all that I want to.

Me too.. Debating between trying to convince my best friend to fly out and drive down from WA, which would be an awesome trip. Or, trying to get a lady friend to join me. Odds aren't good: I'll be on a fishing boat from Feb. until May...

    Sliders, CB, OBA, Lockers Front/Rear...

I got dumped last year right before MOAB convinced a girl a random girl to come with me. Then after MOAB got back with my girl and it looks like once again she won't be making it now. Time to find another random girl to tag along.

If you just had a once-a-year booty call that would be perfect! FT girlfriend during the year then BOOM you get to go to Moab and get some strange all at the same time. Moab would be the most epic yearly trip, a trip up a few runs and down a new hole. Dirty I know, sorry.

Hahahaha! Well, I already blew mine when I went back to the East Coast to see my parents for the holidays. It had literally been about 2 years since I last saw her.. Let this be a lesson, don't delete phone numbers.

Just helping a dude make arrangements for some Moabooty.
Adam from ATO just got ahold of me and said that he would extend the skid plate deal they had going on at xmas for me if I ordered tomorrow. $680 shipped for the Front, Transmission and transfer case skids. Good deal but I dont know if thats on the top of the priority list right now. I think the winch, tires and rear bumper should come before skids. I'm trying to make sure everything I do is prepping me for Moab, because that gives me direction and keeps me from spending money on useless stuff.
    Thoughts?

IMO winch not needed for MOAB, there are ALOT of guys who winches going

I feel I used my skids more than anything, Id hate to smack my oil pan or t-case and than be SOL leaking fluid all over,

Is it necessary NOOOOOO but I feel skids have made my truck more unstoppable :p

Winch, I wouldn't put on top as half the people there already have one and they didn't get used much. Tires I say yes definitely, and rear bumper is also important, depending on the trails you do plenty of spots to come down hard or at an angle and smash the bumper, I know in our group last year the one piece of armor that hit more than anything else was our d ring hitch receivers
