1.5" should work to clear 285's. That's what I have on mine.

All this talk of 285s and now a coworker just ordered a lift&wheels package for his Heep. I'm starting to feel an impulse purchase coming on even though I have no money set aside for the after-the-fact regearing that would be required of this impulse purchase...

As for re-gearing..... It's not absolutely necessary for 285s.. especially since you have the manual. Yeeees, it would be much better to re-gear (for the sake of MPG, drivetrain stress, power, etc...)! But I think it's something you could do later down the road once you have the money saved up... :nosture:

Heck. I ran 315s on stock 4.10s for a few weeks! Sure it sucked.. but besides MPG, it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.

Looking at Duratracs or the ol' standard BFG ATs. I'm looking for a better on-road tire than the MT but still capable off-road. Probably going to regear and do a front locker as a birthday present sometime in the next couple months. Thinking of getting 3rd members from ECGS since I haven't found a recommended diff shop.

Absolutely, man! Lemme know when the time gets closer, and I'll get you a quote. DIY beadlocks wuld be sick!!

And aaactually..... 90% sure I will be selling my current set-up within the next few weeks. Was going to try and sell as a set (5 wheels on 4 KM2s + 1 BFG AT) but I'd be willing to seperate if you just want the wheels...
Nice!! If you're gonna regear anyway, just go 35s! :D

Sweet let me know on a price when the time comes. Hope I have some $$ still. Already have a buyer lined up for my current tires, set of 5 all matching spare still new.

Unless someone on here would like my set when the time comes. If the buyer flakes that is.

I ran 285's on my stock gears with an auto transmission up until right before moab last year. So I was running them for a little over 2 years......

More than likely on the front. Both front and rear if you want it to look the same fron to rear.

Those tires will rub alot w/o them. but what I would do is call Spidertrax directly and ask them if they have a blemished set. They are somewhat of perfectionists, and don't really like to sell stuff if it isn't perfect. And they stand by their stuff like no other. I broke a wheel stud last year in Moab and called them and they had me send it to them so that they could push out the busted one and put in a new one.........I got a call from them and was told that they were crazy busy and if I wanted....they had a blemished one that they could get in the mail to me that day. It was brand new and had a 1mm scratch on the inside surface.. To top it all of I was the 3rd owner of these spacers and they didn't even question that. They are amazing to deal with!!!:D

Hey so Lobster lets keep the other convo on this side so we don't clutter Silas's thread. Not that it will be open too long, I guess depending on what you pm'ed him. But that way others can look and we don't get yelled at by the Mod's.
