AR-15 BS Thread

I got one of the last ARs in my area. I got a Windham Weaponry SRC model from Academy. I am a total newb, but I always wanted to get one. I used the recent craze to convince the wife we should get one before they were banned or price increased.
I will be using it to hunt hogs here in TX.
The problem I have is with finding ammo. Walmart and Academy are completly out of stock, especially walmart they only had 30-06 and shot gun shells instock. EVERYTHING else was gone!!!

So I assume on line is the same, but what websites should I look at for ammo?
I want to sight it in with a red dot and start getting rid of hogs soon.
Also is 223 and 5.56 the exact same thing just different units?
Can you shoot anything else through a stock AR?

5.56 is a hotter load than 223.

nope, unless you change the barrel.

 

5.56 is slightly different...you can not shoot 5.56 in a .223 gun unles it states so....223 will shoot in any 5.56 gun

 

5.56 and .223 are not the EXACT same thing but close. What is your gun chambered in? You can shoot .223 in a 5.56 chamber/gun, but 5.56 is not recomended in a .223 chamber/gun.

under caliber is says : .223 Rem./5.56mm NATO

That means I can shoot either kind right?

got a bunch of parts from Bravo company today. got most of the parts for my BCG and a few other little odds and end. still waiting on some other parts. cant wait for it all to come in!!!
