Started working on my rear axle this weekend...boring for 35 spline shafts:

    Thanks!

Yeah...my build here is really only half of what I have done...too lazy to update it.

I will have to see. I am planning on hacking it up/off when the SAC is done and making a new one.

    I try :D

Flame away...but I ordered them from Durasolid.

    www.Durasolid.com

They used to make all the chromo stuff for Randy's and Yukon. They began having some quality control issues on front stubshafts so they were dropped by the American distributors. So the producing forge began selling them on their own under the name Durasolid. They never had problems with rear shaft from my research. I dont know where I will source the fronts when the time comes.

Way cheaper than domestic, and I really could care less. No warranty on breakage though, only manufacturing defects. According to ECGS website the Yukons only have a 1 yr warranty anyways.

Bottom line is I shouldnt be breaking 35 spline chromo stuff anyways.

Front stubs...$79 each vs. $150 each
Rear shafts...$140 each vs. $200 each

And they charge the same for shipping as the US guys do

Both rear spindles are now bored! 35 spline chromo rear shaft should be here friday so saturday I can finish up the rear hopefully...install the hubs, shafts, 4.56's, and the ARB :)

Gonna be so badass. How much wider will the track width be over stock or LT? Another 4 inches either side from factory?

Meh... I have no grounds to flame. Especially since it looks like you've done your research on them. I would probably go the same route considering the price.
    :woot:

You will be installing the gears and ARB yourself, correct? If so, and if it's not too much trouble, please take a lot of pics of the install.. (I know it can be a pain to take a picture every few minutes when you're in the groove and trying to get something done... so no worries if it'll be too much of a hassle) But, like you, I regeared both my own diffs and installed an ARB in the front clamshell, and I'm curious of how you will be going about the install in the 60s. I'm mainly just curious if you think they're harder/easier to deal with that taco thirds and clamshells and why...

Stock is 63", AP LT was 67", 79 Ford Kingpin 60 is 69.25", so I will be a little over an inch more each side with the new axle.

Yes I will be doing them myself. Right now my rear axle has 4.56's in it already with an LSD, so I will be swapping it over to the ARB I bought.

This setup should be fairly easy because I shouldn't have to touch the pinion. The pinion depth is dependant on the actual gearseat only, so as long as it was setup properly before I should only be shimming the Carrier to achieve the proper backlash. Once I check a pattern, I will know right away if I need to move the pinion.

The front will be a different story, and will be a full blown re-gear to 4.56's. We will see how I handle that one when the time comes.
