Seat Spacers (to raise front seat for comfort)

I recall reading a post in recent history whereas a fellah had these small 1" spacers made to go under the mounting holes for the 2 front seat mounts.

This effectively raised the front of the seat to give more thigh support.

Has anyone done this, or have pics of what they look like?

I want to get some made, and pics would be nice

 

Sorry...I can't help with spacers.

But on an semi-(comfort)-related topic that many do not know...the steering wheel telescopes out an inch or so. Open the tilt latch and pull it toward you. Hope that helps some. It made my thighs fit better in there.

 

I asked basicly the same question a while back. About the only responce I got was that it more than likely is not safe. Im still interested. One smart A** said I could sit on a phone book. I'm 6' tall I dont need a phone book. But I'm used to a bigger truck (F 350) and I feel like my butt is dragging the ground. I love my tacoma but it feels like a car.

I came from a 1st gen...you are spoiled with the current leg room. Sit on the ground with your legs straight out in front of you (like an L) and that is what it's like sitting in a 1st gen!

From a Dakota...that was hard to get used to. I'm much happier with my 2nd gen.

 

We've already had this discussion I'm sure, but I came from a full size Ram to a Taco. Therefore to me, the Ram was more comfortable and it had a bench seat and a 5 spd.

I'm happy with the Taco, but it isn't the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven.

 

I too owned a 1st gen taco and those seats were the worst I've ever had. I can't count the times I've commented on them being horrid.

Even worse than my 79 Impala bench seat... LOL

 

I know. I had an 84 and a 90 but I was a kid, I'm getting older now and damnet I deserve comfort!

I'd be interested in some spacers. I'm a midget, but I came from a Civic, so having my ass 3 inches from the floor isn't strange.

 

I am looking for the same type of help. I am 6'3" and on longer drives 100 miles or so, My knees ache, okay so I am old. I need the support under my legs above the knees.

 

haha try 6' and 2500 miles 36 hours striaght haha gave me a knew look on little 100 mile trips for sure

Anyone replaced their seats with aftermarket's?
I do a bunch of driving and my lower back gets super irritated after a while.
The stupid lumbar wheel only helps so much too.

Wish it had the seats from my dad's 09 Escalade. G-D it's like driving a lazy boy, and the lumbar adjust in like 4 directions. Stupid comfortable.

 

I have considered leather seats, the shop where I was interested in purchasing and having them installed told me that they could add up to 1 inch in front. I never inquired how they planned on accomplishing that. I need to call them.

 

Lowes has spacers in the fasterner department.

My son bought a bag full for a project he did for his Mustang "shaker" hood. They have them in all different sizes. The ones he bought were very heavy, they almost looked like sockets they were so "beefy".

The one question I would have before doing this is "are the bolts long enough"?

 

Eh by lengthening the bolts and taking it away from the base you're losing some integrity in case of a wreck... if it's enough or not to warrent being a real safety issue is another matter.

Seriously, this truck is stupid comfortable for me. I dunno, maybe it's just the TRD seats? It's more comfortable than my G35 was... ...

 

I'm also over 6' and can see where lifting the front a bit would be nice. I have an 08 Sport, and even those seats are not perfect.

I had power seats in my Jeep and they very great for long trips. The added support under your legs makes a big difference.

 

I am only 5'10 and my head is real close to the roof.
I would like to lower the back, but that is not probable.
Don't you tall fellers bump your melons on the roof?
