Pretty sure that should be within the carrier housing..

I am new to the tacoma world but what that looks like to me is the slip yoke slid out of the TC when the rear was hanging and didn't slide back in when you dropped it... gotta get that to slide back in...

    Thank you captain obvious!

Op it may be too short. Could have been pulled apart if you drooped the suspension.

That is absolutely NOT ok. You need to add a slipyoke to your driveshaft. If you drive it like that you will destroy your carrier bearing and your driveshaft will pop out.

Your steady bearing is shot, will need to replace that.

Here's your problem and this is just looking at your pictures. Picture #2 (im assuming this is when the truck is sitting on its wheels at ride hiegth after you installed your Lt kit.) Your measurements are off and your axle is to far away from the transmission and you've extended your wheel base unintentionally. Meaning when you installed you Lt kit you pushed the rear axle backwards, probably caused by your spring hanger location, most likely the front but it can be the rear. Also the distance between the 2 spring hangers is so critical and it has to be perfect. A slip yoke wont fix this problem. Now if picture 2 is at full drop then yes a slip yoke will fix this, but a temporary fix is limit your drop off with your limit straps to prevent your axle from dropping to far. Check your wheelbase and check your distance from spring mount to spring mount before you start cutting or moving things around. PM if you need more help. American Motorsports

    Longer driveshaft needed immediately.

Carrier bearing will need to be replaced.

You plainly have more suspension travel than the driveshaft can handle.

The axle is going to swing forward upon droop and back at bump. Right now his axle is pulling the drive shaft back. If he installs a slip yoke into the rear drive shaft section it will take the pressure off the front drive shaft allowing it to slide back into the trans and and stop the rubbing. The slip yoke will also allow the axle to swing back at full bump and allow the drive shaft to grow.

I understand the concept of a slip yoke and suspension travel. But when you install a rear Lt leaf pack this shouldnt happen. When its at ride hit the drive shaft should be in its normal position, when you are full bump you should hit in the same bump stop location as your stock leafs did, hence no change in driveshaft needed. You only need a slip yoke for full drop out. So there is a problem with his axle location.

I agree this problem shouldnt happen, But a slip yoke will still allow him to take the tension off the front shaft an fix this issue. What he needs to do is cut off the hanger remeasure and re install in the proper location.

looks like you pulled the bearing out of the carrier housing. that would usually be caused by over extension of the shaft at full bump. the 2wd driveshafts arent ideal for running a longtravel kit. my kit puts it at the limits. but all the 62" packs have too much forward - aft movement of the axle to use the stock shaft , no matter where full bump is set at.

you want to upgrade to a slipjoint in the rear section of the driveshaft ,not only to stop what happened above . but so the carrier bearing stays in one place while the suspension cycles and to keep the maximum spline engagement at the transmission.

I would just upgrade the bearing while you are at it. The stock one sucks ass.

Looks like you put your front hangers too far back to begin with too. Did you buy it as a kit or just put it together in pieces?

    I fabbed it myself..(hangers..shackles..)

So..in theory..if I cut off the front hangers and move them forward..everything should go back to normal?

you will need to move both front and rear to keep the 52.5 mounting distance. You will still need a slip yoke for the added travel
