I've never understood drop bracket lifts. I just don't see it as a good wheeling solution since you only gain clearance between the front and rear axle, instead of where you need it between the left and right side of the truck. How often are you trying to go sideways over a large obstacle :notsure:

I think that's why they get a bad rap, mostly mall crawler status.

^That's what I've thought as well. But, everything serves a purpose of course.

On a side note...I went through a car wash today. Condensation galore in my headlights lol.

Ya a DB tends to get a worse rap than the regular suspension lift because of that reason. Only nice thing about a DB is the way it retains stock angles on ur cv's. so less wear and tear on those plus a litle more down travel than the normal suspension lift with out a mid travel shock. Limited on uptravel tho. And then theres the part where u gain nothing between left and right side. Id only do a DB if i added it so my icon coils i have now ;)

Which I know you CAN do, but what would be the purpose? If you're trying to run bigger tires are you really going to sacrifice clearance to do that?

You're not sacrificing clearance. adding a drop bracket lift is just raising where your truck sits not adding anything to suspension. So essentially putting a 3 inch suspension lift to drop bracket is the same as putting a 3 inch lift on the stock Tacoma But now you're just sitting even higher. Not sayinh its the greatest set up but it would work for the guys that wanted 8 inches of lift and 37 inch tires. Thats essentially wat TRH had on his taco and it looked awesome lol

if its more than 3" its a DB lift. im pretty sure there no lift out there for a taco thats more than 3in thats not a DB lift. unless your doing long travel, 3in is about the max for us suspension guys and even a long travel setup doesnt really mean your riding higher.

    ^truth

In some cases you ride lower than stock, look at trophy trucks.

And yeah I hear what you're saying about not sacrificing ground clearance, I suppose that's true but you aren't GAINING anything useful either IMO sure you can put bigger tires on but those brackets will get torn up trying to take it over anything that you could normally clear with those tires.

And TRH does have a pretty BA truck, although I'm biased because its orange.

which is why you get about 8 inches of lift instead of 9 lol. but if you did a 3 inch suspension lift and i took my truck and added a DB lift to it on top of my 3 inch suspension lift we would have the same amount of clearance left to right. only advantage i have would be being able to run 37's and gain a little more clearance. BUT... if you were using the truck for serious offroading your looking at having a much higher center of gravity. thats y people dont go with 8 inches of lift haha. even though it looks BA haha

Also true, haha I guess I just don't like drop bracket lifts :)

Feels like the cheap way to halfway accomplish something that shouldn't be done halfway in the first place. If you want to sit that high but not see the gains from being that high my brain says you probably don't want to wheel it hard, and then I wonder why you went through the trouble to get that high anyway :notsure:

It's probably just a personal preference thing. Lol, I've taken my stock truck places I shouldn't have been so seeing guys that have the resources to do the work and get good components waste it at the malls drives me nuts.

haha i feel your pain. thats why i stopped at 3"! most guys you see wheeling hard dont have more than 3" so to me that says something.
