I would not buy a Kia or Hyundai. Korean crap in my opinion. After the thousands my parents have put in their brand new sonata due to expensive crap on it breaking, I wouldn't own one. Unreliable.

    Toyota> Ford
    Its as simple as that.
Pretty much all ford diesels are garbage. I work as COO (chief operations officer) at a business that has a shitload of ford trucks as well as a few Toyota. Basically I manage the fleet of trucks. Most the fords are pretty reliable (gas v8) and the engines run like tops, but soon as they tow a trailer I find myself looking for a new transmissions. Every 100k they need all new front end bushings. Almost every diesel v8 has been retired. Every diesel that we have had have had a slew of issues. I must have seen 50 sets of injectors paperwork go across my desk for the shitty powerstrokes. Yes sets, 8 each. Not to mention all the other issues. Turbos, fuel tanks(they delaminate), whole engine blocks, transmissions, starters, every fucking pump imaginable have all had issues. Granted these are larger f450's and f550's, but I must say the powertrain is garbage. Yes, I have seen every generation of powerstroke. The GMC Volvo roll-off truck that has about 1.4 million miles on it has less issues than our 06 powerstroke with 60k The boss drives a GMC duramax. I also manage that. Never once had a mechanical issue, just an issue with seat warmers. All the Toyota trucks all have been outstandingly reliable.

So when people go off about how great ford is, I shake my head. I manage about 30 different trucks and have seen alot more than that go though this business. Unless you absolutely need to drive a massive gas guzzling truck, a tacoma is your best option. The only cars that last without paying out the ass for maintenance are Toyota in my experience.

My "other" vehicle is an 07 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited. Love it. Never had a problem so far. It's my second Santa Fe. Comfortable, quiet, great in the snow, and about 10,000 cheaper than a comparable SUV when I bought it. They aren't so great price wise any more

Im not saying i like ford better than toyota, i friggin love my truck. But i have been stationed here in az for 4 years now and we have a ford diesel line truck that we use to get to one of our remote sites that is atop a mtn. The terrain up this mt is quite treacherous, it has beat to shit a multitude of trucks, and some cant even make it up, but our ford has done if like a champ for the last four years and has never skipped a beat....not to mention the stress it endures when we climb that beast in the summer....gave me a whole new found respect for ford....

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Every Ford around me is driven by a Mexican fella. They must be sending money back home by buying Mexican vehicles.

I had an '05 Hyundai Accent for 4 years and never had any issues with it. I would buy another Hyundai but you would have to pull my cold, dead hands from my Toyota first.

I once bought a hot dog, at my local Sam's club. After 2 bites, I immediately regretted not getting the slice of pizza with sausage, pepperoni and bacon topping. So I actually teared up just a little as I walked away, with my wife noticing the whole thing. Realizing I was not happy, she handed me $1.49 and said go ahead honey, get that slice of pizza. My day immediately got brighter, and I joyously shopped for my bulk items.

x2 our 99 f-250 towed a cat d5g(about 20,000 lbs) no problem and the tranny lasted till 280,000 miles , the only thing we did to that truck was tires, brakes, oil, and chipped it.
the only reason the tranny failed was because the guy we sold it to (a guy who worked with dad) was trying to back his toy hauler up-hill.

Biggest regret will always be the AC cab. I wanted a long bed without being super long but in the end I never really needed the extra foot of space. I need rear seats. I REALLY need rear seats. Truck has long been paid off and I really don't want to give another bank my money so looks like ill be stuck with this rig but I really wish I would have built a double cab. We've got a front drive Honda thing which is great but a family semi-off roader would make adventures a little more comfy for the people who get stuck in the rear. Mark my words though. Had this truck since mile 3 and loved it for five good years. I'll never let it go!!! :D

I had a double cab but since that I never used the back seats for what they were intended I ended up getting an AC. Either way I'm happy, it's still a Toyota.
