LOL. Okay, you can't possibly be that dumb, Oz. Alabama is well south of you, the DEW Line (now North Warning System) is mostly north of you.

IMO, OP came and started a thread sort of bashing Tacomas and the poor design of interior lighting (of all things) based on his opinion. He did call poor piss job and complained, again, from his perspective about how a big company like Toyota would let that happen. I can understand people that support Tacomas and really like the product getting upset, I'm one of them and I did get a bit ticked about it since he just complained about few things that we didn't even have in luxury cars only a few years ago.

Had he complained and then ask what are the other owners doing to improve lighting I would have had no problem, but just coming out of the blue to just piss on a very good product is not a good way to start.

But again, this is an online forum and everyone can post whatever they want in the way they want, so to each his own, I just doubt he will bet much sympathy.

My wife has a 5 year old 4Runner that has every feature mentioned. It's not a luxury car, and this wasn't just a few years ago. Luxury cars have had these features for 10+ years.

It's great that everyone is so passionate about the Tacoma. It's a fantastic truck and that's why I decided to buy one! Just because it's a fantastic truck that we all love doesn't mean we have to get upset about someone mentioning a handful of very minor short-comings.

The truck is what it is. It's 100% quality through-and-through. It's a long lasting, dependable, good-looking, high-performing truck. That being said, they're a little bit behind the curve on the typical creature comforts you should find in a $35k vehicle. That's ok. It shouldn't stop anyone from purchasing the truck, and it certainly shouldn't cause regret (because you should know these things coming into the purchase).

I agree but what was the point on coming and just calling out Toyota for the lack of some features that a bunch of trucks dont have and not even asking for help to improve them? I dislike a few of the things of my tacoma and I have read a lot about them and how to fix them.

10 plus years is not a lot, this generation of Tacomas is already 8 years old.

My point is: what was the intention of the initial post? To make us feel sorry about the OP spending his money and not getting interior lighting? He never even asked what other members are doing to improve that. Again, everyone is entitled to his thinking and to write what they like, but think about it, starting a thread in an online forum for Tacoma enthusiasts who love to mod and do shit to their truck and instead of adding anything useful or even ask a question or help OP calls Toyota Engineering it a poor piss job....

Shit if I was Toyota I wold be upset...

In respect to the car world, 10+ years is definitely a lot. It's especially rare that the SUV version of the same vehicle has had these features for at least 5 years (probably a few years longer).

I just find it interesting that the truck would come standard with a backup camera and a touch screen radio, but not climate control - that's something I'm going to miss about my 8 year old Subaru.

I think the initial post was more of venting. He was a bit disappointed. I was a bit disappointed when I test drove mine (well, the same trim level in a different color) that these features were missing. It was still the best truck in the world to me and for me, but I was a bit bummed that I was about to shell out $35k and not get something as simple as climate control. I'm still pumped to get the truck, and this month is going to be a VERY long wait - but I still wish it had climate control.

Haha... I put down a deposit on a new 2013 TRD Off Road with Entune and I won't get it until the first week of February either. It's a long freakin' wait!

I'm about to order my Weathertech floor liners. I'm also considering some sockmonkey decals, but I figure if I start tearing stuff off the truck the day I get it my wife will be pissed.

What else do you have waiting for the truck? From the looks of it, we're ordering the same truck (color and trim level) except yours is the Sport and mine is the O/R.

How much is the wheel/tire combo costing you if you don't mind me asking? I have heard really bad things about the Rugged Trails and snow, and seeing as I'm in Colorado - I'd like to get something that I feel will help keep my $35k investment on the road.
