The FJ does not come with a V8, it has a better version of the V6 that is in the Tacoma.

WOW, the market nor your wallet can support that thinking....$$$$$$ expensive Toyotas..look at GM and Chrysler sinking trying to please everyone...

Those optional interior lights that are stock on some models are now HOT thanks to YOU making it look so dam easy  ;)..NEW Tacoma owners are squealing :p....WTF.....Me Me Me....WTH would you guys have done if the options book said bias or radial tires, blue , black or red and AM radio or none.????
My '85 Hilux was just that..oops left out short box or long...

No power steering, locking hubs for 4x4 , 4 speed, double latch tailgate locks and no a/c..BUT it priced out to where I could afford both payments on NEW vehicles, a mortgage and a baby on the way...

Sad thing is ..dam Toyotas hold their value...making for loyal returning customers and then everyone else wants "in" BUT they want their F!@#$%^ fluff with it...then buy up..DO not try to recreate what has worked for decades....Toyota dabbled in that and lost respect,# 1 ranking and their way BUT now it is back to JOB 1...

    Rant over...and no apologies....:p ;)

Your rant has a huge flaw in it when it comes to Toyota though. Based on your rant, the FJ manual transmission should have gotten the same manual transfer case that the auto received for simplicity purposes. Also, why does the Tacoma still have the same old VVT engine while the FJ, 4Runner and Tundra get the newer, more powerful dual VVT engine? Toyota seems to limit options in a weird way that doesn't seem to make sense. I'm sure there is a reason, I just can't follow the logic.

When I was looking at the 4Runner, I was disappointed that I couldn't combine some options with the TE and the Limited. I guess Toyota figures if I plan on offroading, I have no desire for luxury. On the ones that come with full-time 4x4, can you shut it off?

Sublet repairs means they didn't do it in house. My dad had a rust preventative treatment done on his Chevy and they shipped it to another privately run local shop. It's like body work, a lot of dealerships don't have bodywork shops in house so they have to sublet the work.

Maybe it's what they have surplus of haha..

But seriously what does seem odd is some of the regular cab stuff. No option to even order delay wipers? Really? I know I can install the switch, already have, but not everyone will.

Then again my old Chevy truck had no door lock cylinder on the passenger side. Odd!

    None needed..

What I will partially disagree with is the GM/Chrysler comment. It's not totally false, but another part of GM's issues is they take the attitude of screw the customer any way you can when it comes to customer service. Sadly, the dealer hosed me last year..and GM corporate agreed that the dealer lied to me and was not forthcoming with me..but said they feel that it's still my problem to pay $2000 to fix GM's faulty design.

No, not weird BUT based on how they are set-up for cost operations...Can this vehicle take a 4% price hike ???, Do the "Vendors" have these parts made or in "system" ??? Are we having "problems" with said parts and can we phase them out cost effectively ???

Price Price Price, Just look who is left in the TACOMA market, Ranger ??Dakota ?? S-10 off-spring ??? Hell ,even the 4x4 Mags are comparing 1/2 ton full size to the Tacoma to sell Mags $$$$$

Logical ??? To us maybe not BUT we all know what happened to TOYOTA when they tried pleasing everyone :(....

Now look at them...Camry's are finally coming back instead of being blah-blah...Avalons are  and their SUV line is still getting premimium $$$ across the board....and the "once bitten FJ" is gaining ground again ????

Tacoma guys & girls will have to be patient for any wide-spread re-vamp due to what....???? You still purchase what they give you and LOVE 'UM.;)

I was a service writer/director for a GM dealership  and what corporate wanted out of the "back'' literally chased me out of "wrenching"....and I hate to say it but while that was years ago that attitude still stands... 5 of the Toyotas purchased by friends at work came over from 2nd or 3rd GM products BUT service & downtime were killing them...

Exactly Snoope, for a guy like me just wanting a smaller truck there's not many more options. I had a 06 Chevy Colorado because I got the best deal on it for a new vehicle..didn't have the $$ for the new Tacomas and didn't want a Ranger, Dakota, etc.

Now it's Chevy/GMC, Toyota, and not a lot else. For a guy like me a smaller one is ideal. I don't have kids so don't need a DC, can still have a 6 ft bed to haul stuff for house projects and such, and I don't take a beating on mileage since I drive a lot.

I'll have to PM you the story of mine, but it was the Colorado cylinder head issue. Total horror show, and I didn't even care about the downtime, it was the weaselly tricks that the dealer and corporate pulled.

If its full time, it's all wheel drive. All you have is high or low. It sucks!

That's why I want the different transfer case for the FJ. That way I can have 2/4x4 high or low. I also would love a dual lever case like what the Willys has. I can dream....
