Vibration after lift

I recently lifted my '03 DC and noticed that I have a vibration between 20-30 mph. It's very strange as it only happens during that speed wether slowing down or speeding. I dropped the front diff an 1'' during the lift and got an alignment as well. The tires are brand new and it never did it prior to the lift. It almost feels like its coming from the driveshaft.

Anyone have something similar happen?

 

What kind of lift do you have? Did you also lift the rear?

Post lift I had a very similar vibe. I dropped the carrier bearing about .5" and it cleared it up.

 

thats most likely all ya need OP,just to change the pinion angle a degree or so. axle shims or a CB drop will fix you up.

 

^^^^not sure if it will damage anything,try lowering the cb about 3/8'' see if that helps man. vibes suck.

 

Do the Carrier Bearing drop block first because it only takes about 5-10 minutes to do, that should clear it up. I had a little vibration around 15 mph and the that cleared it up on my 2nd Gen. I would do the shims last if it is persistant because they take a little bit longer to do. You will have to seperate the leaf pack and install the shim and maybe a new longer centering bolt.

I actually found the CB bracket to help more and it was easy to install on my 2nd Gen. The shims may or may not solve your problem. Do the CB drop block first.

 

Dropping the carrier bearing is by far the simplest and easiest mod I have done to my truck.

 

I just got a 1.50" lift done to my 2011 Tacoma and I am getting a very slight humming/vibration at about 50 to 60 mph. Not sure what this is, never had it before. And , where is the Carrier Bearing if it is the problem, not sure where the bearing is. Thanks in advance!

 

Had this after I first installed my original 3" lift. Exact same vibe problems y'all just mentioned.

Save your time, I have searched this place dry.

It's not the drive shaft, your CV joints aren't running at stock angles. Your front diff needs to be dropped even more. Fixed my vibes immediately.

 

Have you had a front wheel alignment done since doing the lift? The carrier bearing is the center support bearing on your rear driveshaft.

I would agree that the higher speed vibe is likely in the front end not the rear driveshaft. And on a 1st gen, a diff drop can be an effective solution. Unfortunately for 2nd gens, it is not nearly as effective because of the design of the 2nd gen diff.
