I hauled 15 cases of tile + 2 50 lb bags of mortar + all my tools. It had to be close to 1000 lbs. Sat level with the updated springs :D

Unfortunetly you have a very small chance of getting this TSB done. It costs Toyota a lot of money to do this, and I have never seen a TSB performed outside of warranty(i work for a toyota dealer)

My truck ('09) was brought in to Toyota of Whittier, CA on 5/1/09 and was inspected by the head Foreman (Gus). They came back with "it does have the updated 3 leaf pack springs but we did noticed that the dust from the bump stops are on your frame indicating bottoming out. We'll schedule an appointment with the DSPM (district service & parts manager) on the 18th. Service ticket says "functions as designed". Today is the 18th and my truck is currently at the dealership. The Manager (Sammy) calls me and says "the DSPM and Foreman rode around on it today and could not replicate the problem". I then ask if they drove around in it loaded and he states "no". I said my service ticket says here that the truck bottoms out on moderate load so I then ask how can they replicate a loaded spring problem unloaded? He then suggest I call the 800 number because its not up to him but the DSPM. I call Toyota which then calls them while I was on hold and they told Toyota that they were afraid to scratch up the bed so they didn't put a load on it and that I probably have defective shocks so they will load it up and test it. I'm still currently waiting to hear from them...

This is a dealership that has done at least two TSB springs. I don't understand why the 09's are such a hassle for them to do just because it's not included on the TSB but has the same exact part numbers.

Had the suspension TSB done at Cherry Hill Toyota in Cherry Hill NJ. Dropped it off at 7:00 am, got it back at 5 pm. They even gave me a Toyota RAV 4 as a loaner car for the day. The ride is awesome. I was a little worried after the dealer told me that Toyota said the ride would be untolerable, but now it rides like the day I bought it. It doesn't seem to sit that much higher in the rear. I recommend to anybody thinking about getting but has concerns of the ride after to do so. The ride isn't much harsher at all. Chuck at Cherry Hill Toyota was awesome through the whole process.

Well if I can't get Toyota to do it on my '09 I will do it myself. I am so used to union american made trash (Dodge, Chevy, etc.) that I just go ahead and fix stuff on my own. My '09 does ride nice unloaded but I had it loaded with 30 boxes of ceramic tile which is pushing the load limit on the truck. That sucker was squatting down let me tell ya! I would like to know if anyone has gotten an '09 fixed at a south Texas dealership. If I have to do it myself so be it. I use my truck like a truck and whatever that takes gets done one way or another.

For those 2009 owners who wants, undecided, or even remotely thinking about getting the rear spring tsb done to your truck, I suggest that you file a complaint with Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 or through online at:

    http://toyota.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/toyota.cfg/php/enduser/ask_intercept.php

That way you can get a case number from Toyota so whenever you decided to take it to the dealership, they can refer to it when they call Toyota. This makes Toyota aware that the 09's with the "updated" 3 leaf pack still do bottom out and needs to be included in the TSB.

It was a fight and a lot of hassle for me to get it done but in the end, it was all worth it.

Called shore toyota (south jersey) first lady I spoke to just said it was 05 through 07... I said well it is at least to 08, but mine was handling rough too and it is an 09... Said my 97 tacoma seemd to handle the weight better.

So, second lady came on, explained this to her, at first she quoted the same thing to me, but I kinda kept on about how other people are getting 09s done to because it is having the same issue...

So, they are contacting the field rep who does all of NJ, and seeing if they can get approval from him. It would really suck if I didn't get approval, because I don't want to be surprised when I actually use my truck... as a truck.. and it bottoms out and I look like a fool. D:

Anyone else in NJ get theirs done? I saw a few... but not at shore toyota. Mine is a 3 leaf ending with M and I notice a ++ on it.

I suggest you do what I said above and open a case with Toyota first so they can refer to it.

I took my '08 prerunner DC LB into Toyota of Whittier this morning at 8am. I loaded up the truck with 700 lbs. of absorbent in 25 lb. bags for the test drive. Hopefully it passes the test and the TSB gets done. The asst service mgr. John said I was the fourth person in this week for the TSB.

That is rediculous that some dealers are making people load up their trucks to replicate the problem.

My dealer went on trust, I guess. Hell, I never really even experienced the problem before getting the TSB done on my 09. I knew I would be hauling but never really felt the "harsh ride".

As stated many times before, I called Toyota Corp, filed a complaint, called the dealership, got an appointment to check for 'malfunctioning parts', it checked out and the dealer called Toyota Corp to see if they would approve the TSB. They did and I am all fixed up. Course it still bottoms out with 2 dirt bikes in the back.

All my dealer did was take a quick glance under the truck then said we’ll order the parts; no test drive, no loading anything.

Toyota of Portland (Aka: Berlin City Toyota) - Portland, ME

(2007 Access Cab w/ TRD Off Road Pkg.)

They didn't even question me and ordered the parts right away. Done correctly the 1st time (althouth the rep started to order the wrong springs until I brought it to his attention. He checked with others and then ordered the correct ones. Bring a printout of the TSB to make sure they order the 4 leaf pack).

Shore Toyota called me back, their field manager approved of the work, the parts are on order, should be done some time next week. Gonna be stuck in another rental... for just one day though.

John Hoss? Toyota finally approved my TSB for my 09. Toyota of Whittier was a pain to deal with since the 09's weren't part of the TSB. Now they got my part on order and should be getting this done soon. I drove a TSB truck the other day to compare and it's definitely worth getting this done.

Well it seems no one in s. TX has had it done and I don't feel like fighting with a dealership. So I will deal with it myself. I found some cool looking airbags on Wheelers Offroad and I think that is what I am going to do. Haven't decided on whether or not I will also do the add-a-leafs in addition to that. I want to develop a long-term plan for where I want this truck to end up so will probably put the airbags on it first to immediately address rear-end sag when towing or with a load in the bed. This will preserve the ride yet add the extra capacity I need when I need it. Seems like a good solution.

Dude, just ask them to get in touch with their regional guys... they seem to have an idea of what is going on. That is what my dealership did, called the regional service manager.

Yea, I am hoping I get my notice to pick my plates up before I have to turn my truck in for the TSB.... really don't want to have to see them again... in fact, except for my free oil change, I never want to walk into another car dealership. I really really don't like salesmen.

Agree with that. I hate even walking into a car dealership. Just the air of fake friendliness or whatever and you know they are there expressly to stick it in your a** between a trade-in and the new one. This is the last truck I am buying. It's a good solid truck and I can easily mod it a little to get it where I want it...with govt intervention who knows what we might be driving in 10 or 15 years? We might all be serfs of the state by then.
