Leave all wires connected and flip the cluster up and swap the bulbs and test on the go.

Definitely not the case with my year. I could barely pull the dash gauge out to reach behind and unplug the wires and tach cable. Putting them back in was a whole different story.

    Thanks, I really appreciate it.

I like to keep my dash lights as dim as possible with the speedo/tach just visible.

I wonder if LEDs are the way to go or just get red incandescents? (if there is such a thing)

Yeah I saw those green sleeves on the ones behind my climate control.

Can I get red ones for the ones behind the gauge cluster?

I like being able to dim the lights down low.

    edit: nevermind. google still works.

If its a squealing noise than tighten the belt a little. If its more of a wine than its wear and tear on the pump. Regular fluid flushes help prevent the pump from wearing out. If you're hearing the wine than its too late. It will probably work fine but just be noisy. A little wine noise at full lock is normal. Don't hold it at full lock, it's hard on the pump. Hope this helps.

Mine makes lots of noise at full lock or when turning when the truck isn't fully warned up. I think it's on its last leg because its getting harder to turn lately.

I've been hearing it when cold, its probably just the winter weather and thicker fluid until warmed up

What have you done to your Tacoma today?

A few days ago, I replaced the exhaust on my '99 Tacoma from the catalytic converterback including the oxygen sensor. All OEM parts (did not replace rubber mounts). She's nice and quiet again. :)

Wheeler's five pack leaf springs, Bilstein 5100s (rear), front tint, windshield top tint, Century Camper Shell/Cap/Topper, Wade window visors, Wade bug shield, cassette adaptor (so I can play Slacker Radio via my phone!), Sunday Blues with Dar sticker, Wounded Warrior Project sticker, no NRA sticker 'cause I don't wanna advertise ;-)
I *attempted* getting into my dash to change my bulbs (I think I have only one of the originals still lit). I got as far as having the dash bezel off...but the rear locker and electronic transmission control switches stopped me in my tracks. I couldn't get them unplugged and I didn't want to pull on them too hard...so I put it all back together again (with no screws leftover, thankyouverymuch). I ended up buying a little led bar from Wally World that I've been using in lieu of the dash lights...works pretty well...I just have to clean up the "installation" a bit.

There's a really good tutorial here (for getting to the dash bulbs) somewhere with photos...I'll see if I can find the link.

I just PMd Craig to order Satoshi number 2 du jour, which was unclaimed...:spy:

    M1 color match, matching triangles.

I hope no one else got in front of me.

Now I'll have to paint my fender flares to avoid total ghettoness.

    Fingers crossed.
