Normally I'd say it wouldn't matter but the earlier chevy solid axle 4x's had notoriously soft front springs & almost all of them have neg. ARC, plus I think the price is a little high... keep looking bro'....;)

This may be a dumb question but I gotta ask. I just got new leafs (old ones were broken in half) could adding a chevy or ford leaf lift it at all?

Just finished doing an OMD leaf lift on my 06 Tacoma TRD Sport without TSB springs. I used the center leaf out of a mid 90s Sonoma leaf pack. I cut it to 35 inches and added it under my 2 factory leafs and kept the overload. This gave me 2.25 inches of lift. I am very happy with the ride. Before the OMD mod I would bottom out over railway tracks with nothing in the box.

So I've read damn near this entire thread now…i guess one good thing of being laid out with a bad back…and i cant wait to do this to my truck. Im new TW and very new to MODs and rear suspension, and have some questions.

My truck is a 2000 TRD XtraCab SR5. It has P285/70R17 tires. 2.5" block in the rear and in-coil spacer in the front. I have helper springs on the rear so i can put more than a shovel in the bed without ridding bumpers. stock coils/struts front and rear but getting billies all round. Full time leer canopy.

I am a farmer, and use my truck quite a lot (loads, pulling…). No wheeling, but lots off road. My leafs are sad as shit, and I am planning on rebuilding them OMD style, adding 2 chevs and dumping the over load.

Since my truck already has 2.5" lift (with shitty blocks) will i still need to get things like extended brake line and BPV bracket? My brake line now is 17" and BPV bracket is 4 5/8" What about axle shims? I don't have any vibes now.

Ill throw some pics up so you can see what im dealing with.

Thanks for all the great info. was pumped to find this.

Yes you should have no issues re using..:)

Your suspension looks a little sacked, especially in front. We'll address that, if your doing the front with Bilstein 5100's I'd advise throwing a little more at it & get either the Toytec/Eibach coils or get some OME 883's for a 2nd gen. (thats what I run, match up perfectly, gives me 3" in front & nice firm ride, something you want to think about seeing how you load your truck..) 2 nicely ARC'd Chevy springs for the rear , get rid of blocks & those helper springs , they're doing more harm than good really..;)
