A few years ago I found a used 93 that was pretty much perfect but i was dumb and thought that i needed it to have a factory locker so i didn't buy it. In retrospect i wish i would have bought the rig and went aftermarket locker. Live and learn...

Love the build, but dont love the ads one each pic :(

Such a sick rig, saw it around slc a few times I think. Would love to get an 80 at some point in my life if I can stumble upon one in good condition.

I loved my 80 and hated that I sold it when we moved to DC...but, I have to say as an overland vehicle the Tacoma is better...in my opinion. The fact is that overlanding is not about technical trails and the IFS on the Tacoma with the more modern accoutrements is great. Just my $.02 and in my opinion I had one of the best built 80's in the country...supercharged, locked, suspension w / 35's, African Outback drawers, Milford half barrier, dual batteries, refrigerator, sliders, 12k winch, and the list goes on and on...I could do anything in the truck....but, it had limitations...really heavy...under powered...even with a TRD supercharger, limited cargo space, etc.

The Tacoma is just as tough...better on highways...more fuel efficient...a better power to weight ratio...plenty of modularity...and super easy to work on. Also, the larger number of vendors supporting the platform is fantastic.

I agree with everything you said except that the Tacoma is just as tough. Close but not quite.

Only other reason I take the 80 over the Tacoma is if I have all 4 kids and my wife. I can do it in my Tacoma, but we fit better in the 80.

If any sees a FJ45 for sale send me the link. My father has been looking for one for a resonable price. He wants to sell his sports car and pick one up

Technically that is a "Daisy chain", which in the climbing world, are generally used for anchoring yourself to the the wall/rock. They can be rated to about 5000lbs. They are damn handy and can be used for all sorts of stuff.

I think I have about 8 of them.... (I am a Climbing instructor)
