It's shorter than the stock knob and the center part is just black plastic. I thought it was leather when I bought it. Just figured I'd give you a heads up, I was not impressed by mine at all.

If you get the TRD japan knob is the piece below the leather included or is that off the oem knob?
The ones on Ebay and such just show the leather knob. I suppose I could take mine off and see....but I'm lazy.

I was going to upload a pic of my new FJ shift knob, but unfortunately found out that the long style FJ knob will NOT fit without a little modification. It is too long and makes contact with the gated shift area/panel before the threads.

What I am going to do is chop off the lower silver trim portion so it will fit. There is even a nice groove for a hacksaw to fit into to chop it off. Then I may plug the cut open bottom with some sort of plastic plug, drill a whole in the plug and problem solved. Now I know why the other FJ shift knob on a Tacoma pic was a chopped off version, cause stock it won't fit.

At college right now so I will modify it when I go home this weekend.

Thanks for the update with the fitment issue. Hopefully it will be easy to make it fit well.

DAMN you Google. Why did you have to show me this too

Now I'm torn between this shift knob and the Camry one that I have on the truck currently. I need to stay off the effing internet. :smash:

lol I thought you were running the Lexus knob? IMO that 4runner knob is too bulky.

And an update on my FJ shift knob project. I ordered some metric hardware (coupling nut and threaded metric rod) to extend the length of the shifter pole and ultimately provide enough clearance for the FJ knob. All I am hoping for is the size nut and rod I ordered is long enough to clear the internal plastic in the shift knob. It comes apart in 2 pieces so I will have to fit the coupler nut inside. This way no cutting is necessary to ruin the look of the knob.

I'm running the camry knob right now, trying to sell the Lexus knob.

If that 4runner one wasn't $140 with my discount I would have to check it out in person.

As promised, finally got around to fitting the fj shifter. Here is a quick pic I took earlier today. May adjust it so it sits quite a bit lower in the future. I cut too long of a length of threaded rod and the way I had it threaed I couldn't get it out once I threaded it in. So sits pretty high for now, which I actually like a whole lot!
