I've read hundreds of these posts. I'll say one thing in Toyota's defense - at least they are consistent - ''and the squeak has started up again!'' they don't learn from their mistakes:rolleyes:

I finally bit the bullet this morning. I took my '06 in for the accelerator pedal scare/fix (never had any issue) and asked about the blower motor service bulletin. My taco has 93,000 so it's beyond warranty. After reading about many of your posts, I took my fan out, pulled it apart, cleaned the brushes, greased the bushings, and put it back in...STILL made noise SO this morning I bought the "good" 04043 Toyota blower motor. It's going in this weekend when I get time. I expect the noise issue to be over. Thanks for the great posts guys!

Mine is so loud I can't stand it anymore. I am *just* out of warranty.

For those of you out of warranty, are you buying the new -043 blower motor from the dealer or what? How much does it cost? Anyone buy a non-OEM motor from auto zone or anything?

To answer your question, I paid $162 at the Toyota dealer. This is the -04043 most recent version of the fan/motor. I installed the assembly yesterday..NO noise whatsoever after 5 years! Don't buy TYC or Rockauto. It appears to me (somebody correct me if I'm wrong...) from the pic that these both are the older -04040 problem version, the squirrel cage is pressed onto the motor. The quiet 043 has the squirrel cage bolted on. At least now if this 043 becomes noisy down the road, I have experience taking the whole thing apart and greasing the bushings. TYC and Rockauto aren't bargains if the noise is still there. The up side is that the assembly change-out takes 7 minutes...if you're slow!

And here I thought I was the only one with this problem. I opened my motor and greased the bearings but the noise didn't go away completely. So I put Copper Anti-Seize Lubricant made by Loctite on the squirrel cage rotor and the problem has not returned in over a year.

Well the wrong application for anti-seize but we'll try anything. :D I polished my commutator and brushes and greased it good. It has been quiet for 35,000 miles. I'll just do it again if it starts acting up since I can now take it out, clean and lube, and put it back in about 15 minutes.

It was the only conductive grease I had in my tool box and I was going nutz listening to that damn ticking noise. It got to the point that I was turning up the radio so I didn't have to hear it. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try since its copper based....and so far no problems.

I thought the blower motor was going out in my 2012 (like in my past Tacomas) ... ... but ... it was my brother in law's hearing aids "buzzing feedback". ... :D

I'll restate what I posted many pages ago in this thread:

    TYC SUCKS

I bought one from Amazon, after a couple months it started smelling like it was burning. I contacted TYC to ask them to honor their warranty. They pretty much told me to piss off: I had to go through the retailer I purchased from. So I talked to Amazon and they made a "one time exception" and replaced it. Within a few WEEKS, the new one smelled like it was burning.

My full review is on Amazon. Other people have experienced similar issues. DON'T BUY THE TYC MOTOR.

I took apart my OEM (2008) motor, cleaned out all the brush dust, chamfered the brushes, oiled the bushing...silence. For a couple months. Now it's chirping louder than ever. So please stop claiming that chamfering the brushes fixes it.

    Also...
IF YOU POST IN THIS THREAD THAT YOUR MOTOR IS CHIRPING, PLEASE TELL US WHAT MOTOR YOU HAVE.
I want to know if the new 043 motor is chirping, but when people show up and say "dammit my motor is chirping now" that is of no use to anyone. What motor?

Holy crap, that was you? I read your review just a few days ago. It kept me from buying that motor.
