Holy crap, that was you? I read your review just a few days ago. It kept me from buying that motor.

JimT, man I get your frustration. Several of us have installed the Toyota 04043 replacement for the original 04040...great luck so far, much better than TYC or Rockauto...I get NO noise/squeak at all, even on the low fan setting. Check my earlier post, I gave the link for the Yoda 04043 assembly at $108.00 Hang in there wild man.

I've had the gentle but annoying chirp. First time I took it to my local dealer, dealer said "nope, I don't hear anything" I guest I must be hearing things

So does anyone know the TSB number for this? I do have an extended warranty on my '07, before it runs out I might as well get this fixed for "free" (minus my deductable).

Dealership replaced my stock 09 motor today with part 87103-04043. Luckily they had it in stock and didn't have to order it, being that they are about 45 min from my house and I didn't want to have to go there twice.

Truck had 50xxx on it when the stock motor began ticking.

Will update if there are any problems with the new one.

Oh Damn! I don't know how I missed this thread before. I noticed my noise on low about 3 months ago. I thought I could live with it, but its been bugging me. Went in for 18 month service--got the usual done and asked them to look into this annoyance. They replaced the blower motor. Now nice and quiet.

I was soooo happy...until I saw this thread. Now I am thinking its only a matter of time to hear it again. But now, I am taking that back in right away! ahahhaha.

FYI I elavated my concern to a warrenty dispute through Toyota. I got a call from someone at Toyota who was assigned my dispute. He has spoken to the Service Manager at the Dealership and is getting a little more information from someone within Toyota. I am supposed to hear back today what the next step is (if any).

The noise is continually getting worse and this is with the -043 fan. I am surprised since everyone seems to be having great luck with their -043 fans.

For anyone interested, I have a 2010 Tacoma and have tried all the fixes. First the dealership installed the foam insulation kit Toyota put out to fix the problem. That worked for about 4 months, they then put in a new motor but the old model (pre -043). That made it about 6 months, by then the new motor was out and the dealer put it in, that one also lasted about 6 months, I verified that it was the new model (-043). I took my truck back to the dealer and they replaced it again with the same motor (-043), all this has been done under warranty, but my extended warranty is expired now. Of course the motor I have now is starting to make the noise again, I've talked to the dealer and apparently all genuine Toyota parts come with a 1 year warranty. So I should be getting my third (-043) motor put in soon. The guy at the dealership also told me they have been replacing alot of the blower motors (-043), he told me the last one he did was on a 2013 Tacoma.

Toyota doesn't seem to care about fixing anything unless it's a safety issue or equals bad press. So if you use the Toyota part and it goes bad within a year from when it's installed you can get it replaced under warranty, regardless of wether the truck is under warranty.

    Hope this helps someone.

For you guys that have an expired warranty would you mind testing this "fix"?

It's easy just pull the cap off the back of the motor and put 2 small dots of Copper Anti-seize on the rotor, Loctite sells 1oz tubes for $5 p/n 37533. You don't have to disassemble the entire unit just the cap.

If you notice the rotor has recessed slots that help retain the lubricant and keep it quiet over time. I've been running this fix for over a year with zero ticks/squeaks or problems. I just need a few people to test it out before I can say it's a solid fix, thanks.

Just fixed mine today by adjusting the two screws that held the motor. Took me 10 minutes and no more tick. If it happens again, I'll go with the anit-sieze.

The noise I hear isn't the motor, it's the actuator for when switching from "cold to hot" it squeaks really bad so does anyone know how to take that part out/apart?

mine does that too. People riding in the truck are like wtf is that. I did this fix once for the ticking noise of the fan, but it came back a few months later

Same here...it sounds like a mouse in there...I'm guessing its just dirt from having the a/c on while driving thru dirt...
I kind of have an idea where the actuator is at but not sure how to take it out or clean it...was thinking of using some compressed air and removing the fan so i can try to reach in there and see if I short of clean it maybe :notsure:

After about 30 minutes, the trick w/ the screw did not work. Took the blower apart and put some grease on it and so far, no tick. Hopefully that fixed it.

I've been lurking for a couple of years and got my new Tacoma in August 2010. Just wanted to check in here and report that I've had my blower motor replaced twice. The second replacement was about six months ago and it's still quiet. No questions from the dealer on replacing it.

I've never seen the Copper Anti-Seize? I use the grey/silver anti-seize on everything. What is the difference?

My motor is driving me crazy to the point I need to figure something out!
