Luongo will get traded and Vancouver will likely get good return. Everyone is talking T.O. and Florida, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear other teams get involved.
The opinions in this thread are clearly bias. Luongo's contract is indeed ridiculous, but the GM's in this league who need goaltending will work with it. This is the NHL, and this is how it rolls...

Pretty crazy how even the GM who replaced Burke argued the firing lol. This organization is such a fucking joke. I can't even back them up anymore. I hope we finish 30th and then lose the lottery pool

    Flyers-Penguins opener

    POSTED: Thursday, January 10, 2013, 8:35 AM
It has been rumored for about a week, but a source familiar with the process said on Wednesday it's now virtually certain that the Flyers will host their bitter rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, in the teams' season opener on Jan. 19.
The game is tentatively scheduled for 3 p.m.
Penn State plays Vermont at the Wells Fargo Center that night at 7:30. The source said the time of that game will be moved back, if necessary. It will probably be moved to 8:15.

No Luongo. Forget about the Internet rumors that the Flyers will acquire goalie Roberto Luongo. Multiple sources say the Flyers have no interest. Ilya Bryzgalov is their man. :):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Hopefully this short season isn't full of head trauma like last years. Flyers had some major issues with concussions just like every one else seemed to have.

    Maybe they need new helmets.?.

The east is tough. The leafs will likely be battling the Jets for 11th place.
Oh C'mon, can't you imagine a Luongo-Bryzgalov duo in Philly  . The place goalies go to die.

Not so sure that's the "main" issue.

I think the recent influx is only due to the league actually taking notice of the injuries. In the past players would play "dazed" all the time and if they didn't they were labeled as pussy's. Now a days people are more educated and players don't seem to be criticized as much...well unless they are named Cindy Crosby....that chick has a glass jaw for sure :D

It was never his head, soft tissue in his neck was damaged causing the pain. Pens fired their entire med staff after a chiropractor helped Sid instead of upmc. Isn't giroux hurt?

Yeah the pens need help though, they got rid of their third best dman who wasn't that good and staal. It looks like 2 rookies will be on d and 1 maybe on SIDS wing. Hopefully fleury will have his shit together or this is his last chance. Cookout will take some of the load so that should help him.

I hate to admit it it but though I hate nyr, I'm excited to see their top line. The short season could help them.

Oh, I though he was concussed.

Yea, his brain no likey bouncing off skull. He needs to chill out and stop playing like he is a big guy.

 Never would I admit such a thing. NYR suck almost as much as BGR.

Maybe. It seems a little unbelievable that a soft tissue injury in the neck could be mistaken for a concussion. It seems quite likely that he suffered both injuries and the neck just went unaddressed until later. The neck issue almost appeared to be too convenient as a way of taking the focus away from his head and hence his career.
