What I want to spend it in is some Bushwackers to fix my flare I screwed up.

I will likely pay off a credit card or save for when my baby boy is born. All depends on the amount.

Yes get rid of your debt man!!!!!

Don't let it snowball. $480 may not seem like much but if you're not careful it'll add up. So do teh smart thing and pay off the debt!!! :p

My only debt as of right now is my truck, over half paid off and I intend to pay it off by the end of the year if all goes well.

Pay it off dude, you'll feel better in the end knowing you have NO debt! Something most people can't say about themselves. :p

Don't use other peoples situations to justify yours.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Bingo^ the best thing to do is try to brake even and if your pay a lot or getting a large refund you should be changing your w-4. This is like giving the government 0% interest loan all year And getting nothing in return but the money you gave its not the smartest thing to do.

Meh... having owed a decent amount in past years, i would rather pay too much and get it back, than to figure out where i am going to get a spare 1-2k that i don't have sitting around.

That said, it will probably either on a laptop,or baby stuff...

While I agree it's not a great idea - lots of folks do not have the discipline to do anything better with the extra dollars in their paycheck. Much like insurance, many folks could not save the money they spend in premiums, so it's far better for them to pay for insurance (or over pay taxes and get a refund)
I shoot to get just a little bit back every year...I don't like the thought of the paying anything a the end of the year....so I take a few hundo back.

But if you hadn't paid too much in you would have made that extra 1-2k during the year.

With that being said I've been saying I going to change my W4 but never do. The refunds I get generally always go straight into savings. Think I'm going to buy a soft topper with it this year though.

I NEED new tires, so that will be 1000-1200. then I think I'll be the first to say im going to put 1-2k on my truck loan. That should get be below 5k on what i owe.

Let's see if the Fed Government is even able to pay out the refunds then ill go from there. I anticipate getting very little in my refund.

Oh that's what I shoot for 100 or 200 from the feds and 50 to 100 form the state. Two years ago I got it perfect I owed the state $1.00 and the feds owed me $1.00 That's the best I've ever done. Sure it's nice to have a big check at the end of the year but i would rather have my money now then have it held for 12 months.

OP didn't ask how he should set up his w-4. Why do these threads always turn into Mr. tax advisor?

Because everyone has a different opinion on how to do things.

At least talking about tax strategies is productive, vice complaining about intelligent discussion while not adding anything to the topic..
