If anyone has a moment and wouldn't mind to check a part number for me, I'm wanting the TRD emblem From the tailgate of a Baja Tacoma. Hopefully it wont have some stupid VIN restriction like the wheels do. This is the one i'm wanting the PN for:

A VIN is required, but the parts are still on restriction. So it's a no go, even with one... I have tried. Best of luck.

Don't mean to high jack the thread but I've been curious to know what kind of lift the Baja has?

 

1.75" (front only) is what I was given by a Design Engineering Manager.

So 5100's?

 

Basically... yes. They have a larger shaft, and the valving is different. The same goes with the rears, which are modified 5160's.

It is also a 625 Lbs/In Eibach coil used in the front.

Thanks. This makes me feel better for installing 5100's at 1.75 or .85 since Toyota does basically the same thing for this model. I know a lot on here run the 5100's but I wasn't sure about the cv angles and causing extra wear on them.

 

Same here, that's why I hunted down the Design Engineering Manager, to chat about what was different with the Baja, and of course, get some part numbers.

Off topic, I assume that the old Ranger in your album, is/was yours? Very nice.

Yes, the Ranger was my first vehicle. I took it from a plain little stripped down Ranger that my friends didn't even know was a 4x4 (until I took it wheeling) to what you see. Had better pics but can't find them. Of course that was way back before the digital age. The pics were scans of my prints. Had a blast with that truck.

Truck had a 6 inch Superlift with Rancho Shocks. A 3.5 inch home made body lift 15x10 wheels with 33/12.50/15 Wild Country mud tires.

Had to give it up after some speeding tickets. Jacked my insurance to ridiculous prices. Never had another 4x4 since until now. Always said I would own another and wanted a Toyota from back then. Of course that was before they were called Tacoma's.

Of course I also had that old gray Dodge but never drove it or even had insurance on it since I couldn't get it to run right, then someone came along and offered cash for it, (more than I had in it) So I let it go.

Was able to order the Baja TRD badge last week. Just a note if you can order it, these are the correct part #'s. VIN # is required. It should be $50.

Why do they restrict parts to certain VINs? If they didn't restrict, they could be making more money.

 

Some people had no luck even with the vin. You have to have the corresponding truck. Red baja for the black trd.

 

Try ordering something besides the badge. I would be curious to see if you could get any suspension parts.

They are special edition parts. No point in paying extra on a special edition anything, if anyone can buy the "special" add-ons and make their own.

That doesn't mean it's not fun to try and pick up a couple a parts here and there.

I know someone with a Black Baja so I was able to use their VIN to get the red badge. The dealer just needs the #, they don't care where it comes from.

 

Highland - quick question (not trying to hijack).

Driver side rear suspension rear leaf spring mount (where it mounts to the frame).

Mine is bent from an accident - I think its considered a part of the frame, the shop (toyota dealership) can't figure out why they can't order a new one. I think the bend on this (it also bent the frame where it attaches) is cause for a frame replacement. Any insight. 2008 tacoma 4x4 4.0 doublecab trd sport short bed.
