Just spent the better part of 4 hours trying to get the bearing module out of my 09 base....what the hell???
tried prying, putting a spacer between the bolts and the wheel studs, hammering...
Would buying a 3 jaw puller work??
    Anyone? This is crazy.
Places want 800-1000 bucks to do this!! Everything came apart nice, until it was time to get that damn assembly out...
    thanks in advance

Nope. couldn't get it out. I am talking about the step where you loosen the 4 bolts, tap/pry the assembly away from the spindle..

Use a dead blow, or any soft hammer, and beat the crap out of it. 1. make sure that if you are 4wd, that the spindle nut is off, and you beat the cv loose with the soft hammer. 2. all those bolts on the bearing are loose, then beat the crap out of the hub with the soft hammer. Good luck.

You did take the axle nut off right...?
If so make sure youve got all of the 4 bolts completely unbolted. You should not have to hammer it off.
Also, you might want to invest in a bearing puller. These sons of bitches are really on the hub. I had to change one in a parking lot once and had to borrow a die grinder to cut it off. Getting the new one on was also a nightmare.

got the axle nut off..all 173 ft/lbs of it..in the vid that's posted, he is using a 3 lb sledge. I used the dead blow hammer, then a regular hammer..when I re-take it apart in the am, the 3 lb sledge comes out!!

Thanks, I have read most of the threads that have anything to do with replacing the bearings here. The assembly came out about 1/4 inch, then it just wouldnt move..I put it all back together tonight. (midnight in MA), and will go at it again in the AM. Advance Auto Parts opens at 7:30. Just wondering what size puller to buy to get an even pull on it..

I saw that post, it would have made life easier if I didn't have my dust shield on so I could get a better shot at the backside of the assembly..lol

It would if you had something immovable to push against, but there isn't. A slide hammer on the other hand would work.

What are you going to put the jaws of the puller on? The hub right? nothing in the middle of the hub that is immovable. The axle shaft is movable, and you don't want to mushroom or egg that shaft.

true, I thought the puller shaft would set on where the axle nut goes. Jaws would go on the hub.

tried that..I got it so that all 4 bolt were out of the holes, I could spin the entire assembly with the dust shield, and it still wouldn't budge..had 2 chisels trying to pry it loose...banging chisels in, and it just wouldn't come out..
