    .
meh? I ran into a tree stump that was buried in a sand dune, fucked up my bumper and put a crease/dent into my tailgate, I was pissed at first, i have since replaced the bumper and kept the tailgate as a scar to remind me of good times :)

I don't think sliders would have done anything....:( where the branch hit it was kinda way up and it was hiding in some California grass. Had an awesome morning wheeling though!

Lol burn outs... The trail that I did that on I had to hit the "RRdiff lock" to get out so that would be a no for them. (Btw first time I ever had to use it)

Not to be a prick but if you really feel sick about this, don't take your truck off road.
My son-in-law is the same way. Got a scratch and told me how bad it was.

If you go off road, you WILL get scratches and dents. No way around it. Since it is fun, except some dents and go on with it.

No I really feel sick because I should have checked for that branch..... I agree with you you wheel your gonna mess things up its just eventually it happens like the title reads "first major body damage" it's not the first scratch or ding, just a bad panel smash.

Naw I'm gonna do it the right way go through my insurance. I'd do it myself if my truck wasn't a 2010.... $500 deductible to me is worth it not to have to worry about it done right!

I'm personally getting a lot of satisfaction learning how to paint and fix minor body damage. I would call that fairly minor damage, but $2100 is probably in the ballpark of what a body shop might charge - a bit high but still within the ballpark. Door skin is one of the easier areas to fix since often you can access both sides of the metal. I still need to invest in a buffer and polisher, but otherwise I've spent less than $600 getting all the equipment so far, including a nice compressor. It is really nice to have somebody else fix it the right way, though! Takes a few practice runs to get it looking good when you are learning.

At least you had the satisfaction of doing something that caused the damage. Imagine my delight when I was washing the truck this last Saturday and found a gash from one of my ever so kind neighbors without a note or a reach around.
