Well it was a courtesy replacement from the dealer when my first battery went out after only 2 years. They proved that that battery died because of all my aftermarket stuff and said its not covered under warranty, but they replaced it anyways. They said they won't do it again.

The battery they put in has warranty too but idk if the dealer will honor that. I have too much stuff for these stock batteries. My truck is destroying them. They proved it because my parasitic draw is like 4x the normal rate.

This is probably my 5th jump this month, so I think this battery is gone now too.

Considering just getting a bad ass one like a Die Hard or Odyssey. Or..... maybe a dual battery setup :D

Gotcha. I got a die hard platinum. A bunch of offroad guys I know of run it and use a lot of accessories with no worries. It's got a little more CCA's than the stock one and is a tad bigger so you have to modify the j-hooks a little. Let me know if you want the link to the one I'm talking about.

Yes please! Definitely interested. How much did it run you and where did you pick it up at?

Maybe if Toyota replaces this one, I can buy a die hard, then still run a dual battery setup but use the stock replacement as my 2nd "accessory" battery until it does again. Then I'll just get a second die hard. Idk that's a lot of money. Well see. Buy yeah I think its time for a new one for sure. Can't be going through batteries every 2 years like this

Would hate to question someone with your electrical knowledge, but what gives?
Are you drawing more power than the factory alternator can cover? What is sucking your power while the truck is sitting?

Its not that I have a short or anything wrong, is just that what I have pulls more than a stock battery is rated for.

A stock car has things that hold memory like your radio and the ECU. These things only pull less then 0.03 amps typically on average. Usually closer to 0.01. I have added light bars which all have individual memory, my ultragauge, bigger radio, CB, PA, alarm, wig-wags, automatic window module, and all kinds of things of that nature which all have memory. The amount of draw from each is extremely small, but added together, and the parasitic draw is much higher.

Parasitic draw is the current being used while the vehicle is off and in a standby mode with ALL devices off, including doors and hood being shut and no key in ignition. My parasitic draw is over 4x that of a stock vehicle. It is not nearly enough to make a battery die overnight, and is not particularly 'bad' or 'abnormal' BUT over a long per is of time, this extra strain on the battery while its off eventually deplets its life much sooner.

Parasitic draw is not advertised on batteries like CCA are, but, each battery has a safe tolerable limit. These stock batteries can't handle my load, and so they give out within 1-2 years.

This is why even a heavy duty battery like a die Hard will still die sooner than normal, because I am stressing the electrical system. A dual battery will cut my parasitic draw in half, and bring each battery back down to a more stable limit, nearly doubling its life span. Even a single die hard probably won't last me more then 3-4 years

And as for the alternator, its fine because all my stuff is low current while its on. Nothing is super high amperage like some of these RI lightbars. However, I am pushing the limits though. 4 HIDs (fogs and lows) are drawing around 30+ amps total. Add that with my system and I am pulling nearly 50+ amps more than stock just during basic driving and all other equipment off. That alone is nearing the max for the alternator. Turning my system up loud can draw over 100amps alone, which would destroy my trucks electrical, but luckily I very rarely 'bump' it. If I turned on EVERYTHING I had in my truck all at once, depending how loud the system is then yes I am over loading the alternator, but, that never occurs all at once. I haven't actually done all the math to be certain, but I think my alternator is good for right now. As long as I don't try to max it out and continue normal use like I do, I should be fine.

All my problems are due to the parasitic draw on the battery, not the charging system.

just finished a 4 hr rear break change job on my gf's yaris... That tiny little thing gave me a hard time from the beginning but after bleeding all 4 corners and manually re-adjusting the rear breaks after having put everything together already my gf is happy and says it breaks better than before and thats all that matters!! haha stupid yaris :fenforcer:

that was my rant for today :p

    5 Lug or Prerunner?
If Prerunner, if he can afford bolt in coilovers probably used or Bilstein 5100's and a add a leaf rear.
