I have one of these and it doesn't work that great. Not enough heat to keep the room warm, need to stand in front of it to feel the heat.

This on puts out more heat but really isn't the best because it directs the heat.

This is what you need. [IMG]

Got one of these and love it. The garage is warm enough to turn it down or off in an hour or so.http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay...gId=10051&cmRelshp=req&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1

Quick question: I recently moved to CO and I just noticed that they sell 85 octane at gas stations. I think back east 87 was the lowest. Just wondering if this was bad to use and if it would cause any issues?

I run 85 in my runner, I did in my Tacoma as well. The higher altitude enables us to use lower octane without knock. Other mountain sates use it as well.

Huh...Yeah I was bragging to my brother back east that gas was $2.66 at Sams Club. After I filled up I was like "Wait a minute" That makes sense. My wife has a VW bug, she's running 85 in it too. But it'll fall apart for other reasons.

I use it and I drive my runner all over the state for backcountry stuff and rafting. Never had a problem with it.

    Stolen from the intarwebs:

"85 Octane is common in Colorado because of the altitude, it has to do with the air/fuel ratio, and since the air is thinner, it gets less compression. Lower compression means you need a lower octane fuel.

If you know you're leaving the state, fill up with 87 or higher octane beforehand. If you ONLY have access to 85 octane, then top off the tank with 91 or whatever you can get ahold of as early as possible, to try and get it as close to 87 or higher as possible.

Running 85 octane in lower altitudes can cause predetonation and engine knocking, which can cause damage if run long enough."

Additionally, most fuel injected vehicles have knock sensors, which if it detects a knock will retard the timing of the vehicle temporarily. So what will really happen is you will lose all your power until you put good gas in it. We have been running 85 for years and don't have a problem on anything but really high compression motors. I run 91 in my dirt bike because it is a high compression motor.

Turbo's build their own atmosphere but are generally a low compression motor because of it. I would recommend 89 octane on a turbo'd motor like a VW. But you are correct, you can't keep a VW from falling apart anyways.

Thanks! The vw is the 5 cylinder, but it always has issues and will be for sale soon. I had a jetty 1.8t that was great. But back to the gas I just thought it had to do with state regs.

Funny you posted this. I filled my taco with 85 and it could not get out of it's own weight. It was AWFUL when going uphill, this one a taco with 90K miles and less than 300 miles on a full tune up.

I even added a bottle of techron, and that helped a little. On saturday with less than a gallon on the tank, I filled it up with 87 octane.

Success! The truck ran like a champ! It will be 87 for me at least every other tank!
