Weird I have never seen a difference in the gas in my Tacoma or my runner. I only ran 91 in my boosted cars. ill try it and actually look for power gain/ loss. I just filled it up with 87. I always put Lucas treatment in after I had that fuel injector go bad. It's just 4oz ever fill up out of a 30oz bottle, we shall see when I drive to work in the morning if I notice anything.

:brianr: I am not going to every game even if it is less then half a season. So me needs to watch it on TV. So what are they playing for this year anyways? A mini Stanley. :D
Nice I will have to look into that. It will more then heat the garage I have.
Errr... there is your problem. Run 91 and you will not have clogged injectors. :D I bet that Lucas shit costs you more then the difference of the grade change.

I always notice the difference between the octanes. My wife drove the truck one time and was nice enough to put gas in it for me. She put 87 in it and when we were in the truck next I called her on it. She was like , How the hell did you figure that out? I can tell the power loss all the time.

Besides if you really think about it there is typically a 10 cent difference between grades so for the Taco that is only a difference of a $1.60 - $1.80 on each fill depending on how low you let the tank get.

Of course this is coming from the guy that does not have a daily commute like you bitches. :p

I'm sure 170k is why I had a bad injector. :) the Lucas stuff is only $8. It lasts me a while. I put it in more like every other unless I remember. No way in hell will I pay for 91 in the runner I didn't in my Tacoma!!

No it was your sideways experience. It let the shit sludge from that bad gas slip down into your injector. :D

I've used each grade in my truck with no noticeable difference in power. The 91 i remember did seem to give me less mpg. I settled on 87.

    Well, 87 is mid grade.

I'll keep switching back to back, but if I keep feeling that mid grade makes my Taco engine happy, so be it.

It was frustrating climbing up 285 towards 470 and the engine not doing it's job. I didn't detected any pinging, but the engine sure felt out of breath.

I put in 87 cuz that's what the manual says. It treats me good so I don't need to change. I haven't put 85 in anything but my wife's corolla and the gmc jimmy I traded in for the taco (thank god).

Interesting comments on the propane heaters. I didn't know Joey's shop was heated so I guess it's no longer an issue. If I had any other use for one of those I'd surely pick it up for fun - any of the forced air options wouldn't really have much of a purpose when camping and building a fire is infinitely cheaper. Maybe if we face more fire restrictions this spring or summer.

Saw gas getting discussed. My truck feels the same on 85/87/91/85 ethanol free in WY. I didn't get to calculate MPG on that WY tank sadly cause I pulled my battery cable for amp install the other day and it reset everything :| I'm also not too convinced that I've ever gotten exceptional gas mileage using higher octane, 1-2 mpg difference is too little for me to say anything for certain and I'm no longer driving ~750 miles a week commuting to Denver and back so I have no benchmark. 85 all the way - I think the only time I'll ever say the truck feels more powerful is when I road trip it to sea level

For those who want a simple way to contact their representatives w/o even needing to know who they are regarding the current knee-jerk legislation that's being discussed, I'll just leave this here:

    Click me

Literally takes about 15 seconds to send off a letter to about a dozen or so representatives. Make your voice heard & pass this along to anyone you know who enjoys living w/o the fear of tyranny.
