Regular Cab subwoofer (behind bench seat)

***Update***

Installed the BOSS D10F Phantom 400rms/800peak 4ohm sub today in Scosche SET10CC 10" wedge box today, powered by older JBL 600.1 amp (like 450rms @ 4ohm).

As far as the sound, it's awesome. I have the gain turned up maybe a hair over 1/4th of the way, bass boost (on amp) almost all the way down, sub level 1 on my pioneer headunit. I tuned it to pick up right around where my midrange woofers in door fall off and then adjusted all that stuff so the midrange woofers don't make their feeble attempt at being bassy anymore.

The truck box does not fit all too well - Hagen, idunno how the hell you did it with the bench seat lever on the passenger side!

I trimmed my bench lever on that side down to just a nub, but should have trimmed more actually. It gave me another click back on the bench and I think I'm riding at the same or one click further forward than I was before. It's still comfortable and clutch is easily accessible and all. It would kinda suck for road trips, but I prefer to get out of the car and stretch instead of riding ghetto and extending my legs (not even possible with bench anyway).

I basically snapped the white U hook thing over on passenger side midway up off clean, I just used gorilla force and worked it back and forth. It was 16 *F outside so that may have helped, but eventually it just popped off. That let the top of the box sit back an extra inch. What's left of the nub for bench fold lever on that side still touches the box, but it almost pins the subwoofer back in the passenger side rear corner pretty damn tight. Since the floor isn't level I shoved a tshirt under there to make it a little tighter still.

I think the sub might touch the back of the bench when it's blasting, but it sounds good and is plenty loud - I even turned it down a lot from where it was and it's still awesome. Gives the whole bench a back massage even when I have the seat forward and am sure woofer isn't touching (can't drive like this though). No rattles in cab at all! Best $60 spent as long as this $33 woofer lasts.

 

Did you keep that goofy white hook on passenger side? My box is a little shorter than yours and it was making it lean forward at the top. After removing that I gained a click. Then another click with the bench fold lever trim.

My box is probably half an inch deeper at the spot where the release lever is over yours. I'd still prefer be back another click but I think I've done all I can. Even if I trimmed the release lever all the way off it'd end up hitting the back of the seat for sure. Guess as long as it doesn't f anything up I'm cool with it - a 10" sub with more excursion would be slamming against the backrest for sure. Mine probably would too if I cranked it.

Why the hell does there have to be that lump on the floor right before the back wall If the floor were level all the way back it'd be money! Not even sure how I could have made it better if I had custom built the box - it runs from the very corner of passenger side rear to the jack with maybe an inch to spare, can't go lower cause of lump in floor, can't go higher because bench back. Ain' easy doing a sub in a reg cab

 

Can't hear shit with normal laptop speakers, I can barely hear the bass with my laptop's internal sub blasting.. but good lord this was the perfect thing to round out my system. Idunno how to capture any of it better with an iPhone.

In the cab it's just perfection. This vid is after I turned it wayyy down, but I can still adjust it with ease on my head unit (I don't have a bass remote for this amp, friend gave it to me). Tweeters doing their thing perfect, mid ranges doing their thing, sub woofer filling in the giant void that was left from installing mid range door woofers.

Love my Jl Audio's and Kenwood Amp. Haven't had any problems. Running only 900 watts @ 2 ohm right now between my 2 10's. Shakes my side mirrors and everything. Never buying else besides Jl Audio hahah. First I started out with JBL's and they kept breaking, now I saved up and bought some Jl's...best decision everr.

 

And it is an Access Cab truck so how is that relevant to this thread ??

Soccerdallin, you say in your sig that's a custom box? If you were building a box... why did you build it bulging up in to your front seats and covering part of your rear glass haha. Anyway, this thread was all about reg cabs- I'm really trying to learn for myself and help others in the future with similar searches.

Reg cabs must just get forgotten on this board though, not enough people have em! There's some thread about 2nd gen rear leaf spring TSB for regular cabs - title says reg cab, first post, second, third, fifteenth post - all staying on topic. Then suddenly the next 30 people to chime in and say "Yea I got rear leaf spring TSB on my 2011 access cab" or something similar. Makes me LOL.

haha when we first built it, it was way too high, now when I look through my rear view mirror my sub box doesn't block any of my view...luckily haha. Had to have the biggest box possible!

 

Do you guys think this setup(out of totaled Ranger RC) will fit in a regular cab Tacoma?

Upon further inspection, that box looks identical to mine. I guess they all kind of look the same, but if it's a 10" there's a good chance it's the Scosche SET10CC.

In which case, no, it won't fit without touching your bench seat and you'll probably want to chop the bench release lever off on passenger side. And you'll still be touching the back of bench, at least it has a speaker grill. This is assuming you have bench seats ;p

Still loving my cheapo subwoofer though. I learned quite a bit about how sound works after googling "WTF is my subwoofer so loud with windows down" hah. Been a brain rattling summer already, small cab + windows down + sub = mind melt

 

My brother has this just laying around in his garage, it was his 3rd box for his truck I think. Its for a 12 inch Kicker L7. He told me he would sell it if anyone wants it.

Mr.Marv made this Sub Box for me. The seat can go back all the way with out hitting the speaker . Box is .45cu.ft. a perfect match for the Pioneer TS-SW2501S4 Sub . Im very happy how is sounds

 

I can get the dimensions. Pretty sure it’s 2cubes tuned to 33hz. And I didn’t build it in the vehicle. I actually built two lol.

 

how much power? single 12? how does it sound with the port up?
