Can anyone help me here? My fathers laptop crashed on him. So he bought a new one but is having trouble with his Itunes account. The old laptop which is dead still holds the Itunes account as it was never deactivated. Is there a way to deactivate it from another source? Thanks.

First, you are allowed up to 5 authorized computers for your iTunes account so he should be able to connect to his account fine on the new laptop. If not there may be something wrong with his account, or he actually has 5 authorized computers. But I think if you are hitting the limit it will ask to automatically deauthorize one.

To clear out all authorized computers open iTunes on a computer linked to the account and go to the iTunes store. Click on the account ID near the top to go into account info. Then click the option to deauthorize all computers.

He does have several devices, I'm not sure at this point but I know he has an Ipad, Iphone, and Ipod. The old laptop and the new one would make 5. I'm not sure if his desktop is linked. I'll have to talk to him some more. Just talked a bit and I suggested a web search then remembered this thread.

But doesn't an I device only sync to one computer? For example my iPad is synced to laptop a, and when I connect to laptop b , I can view content by clicking iTunes tab " on my iPad" but I cannot manage apps or anything because its not the first "synced" laptop. Am I missing something? I know that I also can add music/ movies from laptop b but that's about it.

iDevices don't count in that five. That's just for computers. You get like 10-15 iDevices I think.

Yes, each iDevice can only be synced to one computer. If you get a new computer you have to resync the device from scratch on the new computer. Otherwise you only get limited management like you said.

Doubtful, it's specifically designed to prevent you from getting content from two sources onto the device. IE your music plus your friends music. There may be a way to hack it, but if you have access to the content, just copy it to your new computer and re-sync. As long as all the content is on the machine you are syncing with you will see no difference on the device.

You can get an external enclosure to put your hard drive in to make it an external drive that you can then connect to another computer via USB (or other connection if you want). This would require you to open your MacBook to get the hard drive out, and of course another computer to plug it into to check. To get an idea of what getting to the hard drive entails for your computer go to ifixit.com and look up your model.

Apple stock has been dropping like a rock ... ... since Apple slowed down orders for components for the iPhone 5.

Sales are slowing down ... even with the new sales in China ...

Even with the drop in stock price, Apple is still up over 20% over the last 52 weeks. That is pretty solid return in my book. What makes it so alarming is that previous to this recent drop they were up 60% over the last 52 weeks!

Their loss in market cap from the peak to now is almost equal to the total stock value of Microsoft or Walmart.

Did Apple tell you that themselves?

I tend not to pay attention to the "news" on rumor sites. they are called rumor sites for a reason.

I saw one article where several stock analysts have affirmed it and lowering their price expectations for the stock. J.P Morgan said that it could also mean the production quality has gotten better so they don't have to order as many to offset potentially bad displays.

... ^^^ ... THXEY ... No, Apple did not tell me directly ... they told that to the *WSJ ... and I read the *WSJ daily ... :D

I really don't consider that (*WSJ) a rumor site, per se ...
