Had a great time in Shamokin today, lots to explore. I will definitely be going back again. Maybe an early spring meet?

Pancake Rd (Clarence) dirt roads back to the old RR bed, ford the creek a few times and come out near the pipeline, on top of which runs Dehass Rd.

 

Glad to see the coal country trip worked out well. I spent the day with meat in my hands. (beef) I will be going up there as soon as the weather breaks and spring comes.

 

It was mud city up there. I'll be washing the truck a couple times I'm sure to get all the mud off. We should do a meet up there........

 

Ahhhhh the memories... Been there many years ago. That rock structure is called Whaleback. Neat area.

Be careful in that area. It's not officially legal and there's a lot of questionable activity that goes on, including people shooting off shotguns.
That's why we stopped going there.

 

It's RAC property, end to end. Completely legal if you hold an access permit, which we all do. It's a different world once you get into the sticks. Locals have been pretty much doing whatever they want up there forever and a day. As far as shooting, yeah. But not just randomly winging bullets.

 

As far as I know you can. There's 1 bridge that was replaced but its at the crossing between orviston and the tunnel.

 

Unless someone built a back-stop up there...... I would consider everything a winging bullet.

We came across some folks who offered us some weed.... and they had guns.
That was our last visit to that area.

Us Delawarians are trying to get a meet going on Feb 9th if anyone in Philly area was interested.

If you notice where the shooting pits are, they are all set up toward a bank. When someone makes the choice to smoke pot, so be it, it is their choice. If they offered it to you, they were most likely decent people. But hey, you have a choice too, to say no and not go back there.

 

If you want to smoke illegal substances, do it in private. PERIOD. Not out in the open where you are exposed to other people, families, children, police....and offering it to strangers?? Are you serious?

I belong to a shooting range and I know what ranges look like. Shamokin does not have any specially built shooting range or pits. It's bad enough having sober people shooting in a non-controlled environment... and you think it's OK to be stoned with a gun?
