Roof rack build

Just one more question I promise haha. How many inches are between the 30* bends?

 

It's a 3" offset so you want 6" between your marks, with 1" EMT it's really not easy, if I were doing it again I'd probably go 22* to give more room between the marks

 

Its 8" in between marks at 22.5* in case anyone cared.

 

^ should make it easier to bend, I try to stick to 30 and 45's at work, so the multiplier for 22.5 isn't fresh in my head, thanks for the info

 

Would that make it look a lot different? I love the way this one looks.

 

What did you do for the from bends over the lights?

 

It shouldn't look much different, I assume your talking about the vertical bars on the front, I bent some 45* bends out of a longer piece of 3/4" and cut out what I needed, I used a 1 1/8 hole saw to to notch the ends for a smooth fit on the 1"

 

made mine. its a little taller than i expected. thinking about shortening it. what do you think?

Looks good! I’m trying to get a welder this year and build me one. all tho mine will hold and LED bar so it wont have as much drag in the wind. and the floor will be a tighter grid.

lol. THIS is so true! i don’t hear wind noise or anything i keep my music kinda load. they very few times it is really low or off i think the truck is driving wired and there is something wrong with it.(i think it’s all just in my head, because as soon as i turn it back up it drives “normal”) and i hear my damn hitch when i hit bumps.

 

this is the best roof rack I've seen yet!

I would pay a lot for one!

I want to see what lights you put in the rear of the cage for the bed...

From my experience, I'm guessing this is rather noisy and hinders fuel mileage.

 

I haven't noticed any decrease in mileage but yes it is loud

 

That's the main reason I did my flat rack. 100mph, no noise.
