which color looks best with stock 2012 lighting? i was thinking of getting the dimmable lightbar to show over my cupholders and shifter, as we all know that is a dark area in the tacoma. I dont want the light to be brighter than the stock interior lights, so which product would you reccommend?

 

That is the question that I simply cannot answer. There are various themes going on the the 2012/13 models. The main theme seems to be white while the metric scale uses the older amber color. Also, there are hints of green and red.

Personally, I have a [R][W][R]-[Black] V2W in my '12. I rarely use the red but do during really long and dark road trips where I don't want quite as much intensity. Although dimmable, each color has its own intensity characteristics: BLUE, WHITE and GREEN are really bright where are the RED and AMBER run much darker. It's all about wavelength.

Ultimately, you have to decide how you want it to match, what colors you like, and the utilitarian aspect of the choice. For example, the white is extremely useful because it does not really affect what you are looking at. The next unit I am going to try might be a [W][W]-[Black] V2W.

 

i originally went with Amber halos and amber LEDs on my 2012. I didnt feel like it was a good fit in the 2012, that uses mostly white instrument back lighting and green back lighting on the buttons. I sold my old one and ordered a new one that was White Halo and White LEDs. IMHO, i feel like its a PERFECT match for 2012. the fit, finish and function of this device is what youd expect from the factory.

as an aside, because i like a 'dark cockpit' i had them install custom resistors to dim them down even more. they are perfect. when driving under normal local street lighting you cant even tell theres additional lighting as theres enough ambient light outside anyways on local streets. however once im on a dark highway, its just barely a glow with just enough light to illuminate the area.

i absolutely love my custom LED bar.

I have a 2007 tacoma I would like to put some new lights in. Are these easily installed?

 

Last night I checked mine. When on high it stays on, when dimmed it will go off within 15 minutes. Let me know if this can be fixed. If not I don't mind the light being left at full intensity and just dimming by the dash controll, but would be sweet if it was able to stay at the dimmed setting on its own.

Totally up to you. The sooner you order, the sooner you'll have it. There are currently (5) other black-cased LED lights waiting for cases but the electronics portion of those orders are already complete. Each unit requires about 4 hours to assemble and test. FYI

Hey Darren, I've got a 2013 TRD Sport double cab black on black on black Taco. I've been checking these things out and they look pretty cool. But I'm weighing my options on some other stuff in the same price range that I have on my list, lol. I'm sure we all know how that goes. No special codes as our system is not yet capable of handling them. As a result, we have lowered our pricing last year as the vast majority of our business comes from TW. We do runs sales from time to time, FYI. The next sale will likely happen late this month or sometime in February.

I bought mine on Monday and received it in the mail today. Fast shipping. It installed in seconds and fit like a glove. It looks like it came from the factory with it which is exactly what I wanted. The light is great, makes a huge difference.

Your order should be processed tomorrow afternoon and then go into production either tomorrow evening or Sunday and likely ship Monday (if you ordered a silver cased unit). IF you ordered a black cased unit, the electronics will be assembled and held until we get the cases in. They are expected to arrive Tuesday/Wednesday which should facilitate a Thursday/Friday ship date.
