I ride a gary fisher cobia hardtail, 2009. It is nothing special, but then neither am I as a 60 year old who came late to the sport. I love riding cross country....we have some awesome trails here around Puget Sound. I have been trying for two years to bunny hop obstacles, and am still not getting it. I am NOT uncoordinated, but I am 6' 6" and 240.....and when I try to horse both wheels off the ground like I see on youtube, the results are still somewhat comical. I was really surprised at how anaerobic MTB is compared to road biking.....it is one tough workout to pull a 2-hour cross country session over rolling ground.

Trail riding in the snow today. Absolute blast. Ran my tubeless at 20 psi and traction was unbelievable/amazing. Started to get a lil muddy in places as temp approached 35 and sunny.

Anyone in the Northeast want to hit up a Niner Demo on April 27th its an all day event. There is going to be a BBQ, a couple of beer tents and I think the local brewery is going to be there as well. It is in Montgomery NY. Let me know if you are interested, I will put something up here as the date gets closer.

^ how much you score that for? Sweet it is. I got rid of the FS Santa Cruz. . . Picked up a Carbon Specialized Hardtail MTB. I'm in love with it. Easier on my lower back.

thats odd that its easier on your back...what model was it?

It could be hip flexors. i read that tight hip flexors can cause lower back pain. I know once i started stretching them the pain went away. I think seat position probably has something to do with it too

If he's where I believe he is, there are some trails which close during wet weather while others remain open.

Tight hip flexors can lead to anterior pelvic tilt which leads to excessive lordosis and yes causes lower back pain.

I switched to tubeless. I also added a used Rock Shox Reverb post that I bought off of Pink Bike. I also found a brand new Shimano XT direct mount FD on Pink Bike as well for $40. Since I am a Shimano snob of some sort and everything was XT or XTR(RD) on the bike it didn't feel right to stick with the stock SLX FD. I also bought the Shimano ISpec adapters to mount the shifters to the brake levers which helped eliminate some clutter on the bars.

Also, since the new bike is a FS it wouldn't work with my old bike rack so I found the Sportworks rack on CL. It is practically brand new and it came with the two bike extension. Sportworks makes racks for transit buses and in the mid 2000's decided to make a consumer rack. After a few years they sold the consumer line to Thule who then took the designs that they wanted and dropped support. Hopefully, I don't need any parts for it but it is a very well made rack that was built here in Washington State and it hardly moves.
