Colinb17's kinda sorta build thread - now with 4-link and long travel

thanks! it was inspired by the FJ Cruiser interiors. i did that about 4 years ago with duplicolor in a rattle can. at the time, the color was called "intense blue pearl". matches speedway blue perfectly. as far as i can tell, they don't make that color any more, but i'm sure they've replaced it with something similar. i also gave it a shot of clear to match the gloss of the exerior paint.

 

Damn that thing is big I wonder if that would fit in the little recess in center console

 

got the shocks in today. perfect length, but they sent me the ones with an eyelet only on the bottom. not ideal, but i can make them work jsut fine. got a big tow on friday, so i have to have them on regardless.probably have them on/pictures wednesday.

 

you talking about forward of the cup holders?

i tossed it in there just to see before i put it where i did. it is way wide to fit in the little cutout like pictured. and if you wanted to put it in there without putting it in the recess, you'd have to cut out part of the bottom, because it sits too tall to close the lid

 

Ya mine is already cut out to fit e one I have in there now

Do you have much space on the sides of that?

 

it's the full width of the cubby for the most part. the cubby narrows as it goes down, so it's actually narrower than the CB at the bottom, but wider at the top. that sort of what you were looking for?

 

something else to weigh down the truck on a daily basis

 

Shocks are on. trailer handles nicely without them, even better now. realy excited to test it out on the trail next weekend

 

Close, would you be able to take a picture strait on? I have my subwoofer level knob screwed into the side of the cubby so I want to see if I would need to move it if I wanted to do the same set up as you.

with the 880, you'd have to move the control a little, but you could keek it int he same general loation. unless you want all of the features of the 880, the 680, that namyo posted a page or two back, would probably be a better fit, since it's about 3/4'' narrower.

another good option. i mocked it up there, but it stuck up a little too far. the 880 must just be a little deeper than Tony's.

 

Hack saw blade without the Handel works pretty good, dremel kinda melts the plastic. Should be able to get it deeper and use a taller cup in teh holder...
