Car is in Chehalis, Washington, fly out and show me where is it damaged.

And it wasn't a 'tip', it was a statement of what I've used that worked for me. If you weren't so busy on your soap box attacking everyone.....

My bet is it's a garage queen you never drive let alone wash. Ill hold off on flying out to inspect glass I know is FUBAR.

Tell ya what...since your so sure it's in great condition after 20 years of abuse pull it out of the garage and into the sun then take a pic of the glass - From the outside while it has direct sunlight on it.

I'm not some idiot on the web standing on a soapbox with no facts or life experience to back it up. I am a idiot on a soap box who happens to be a third generation glass guy and I have been dealing with glass since I could walk. I have heard just about every idiotic thing people who have no knowledge do to glass. I'm sorry if I come off harsh, but after decades of people providing disinformation to the public it gets old and my temper gets short.

In the end if you want good info you should seek a good pro who looks at glass. Not some weekend QB who looks through the glass.

I've sent an email to the manufacturers and will post the response. I've also done a bit more research on this product and found out it has been used on windshields for years with success in alternative forums, not just on cars but boats as well.

I don't mean any disrespect XXXX, but If you call coming in yelling not to use a product, and then insult anyone who doesn't side with your opinion as coming off harsh... yeah you kinda did :) You may have X amount of experience surrounding glass but honestly I stopped listening because of this - any advice you may have had got lost in what I thought was a soapbox rant as well.

Like I said, I'll post the manufacturers response. Personally I don't care either way, I've seen the results, found other sites doing the same thing and haven't found 1 single site that tells me differently.

    So.......

Automotive windshields are made of safety glass, this is not tempered glass like on your cook stove or coffee table.

Under no circumstances should you use anything but non abrasive glass cleaner, like Windex. With some elbow grease windex removes the haze quite nicely.

Don't use crap that says it polishes............bad news! Holy shit, steel wool? Seriously?

Cleaner & Polish...........bad news! An MSDS only lists the chemicals used............it won't tell you about any abrasives.

^Less talk from you more pictures of blondie.

But seriously, unless you know exactly what you're doing when it comes to legitimate polishing, just don't. If your glass is so hazy normal window cleaners aren't cleaning it, you probably (As has been stated) have acid rain/ environmental damage. Additionally, the small rocks that hit your WS over the years may not have made a huge crack or chip, but might have left a small, tiny dint in the glass. A few thousand of those over a couple years and your window is shit.

    Just get new glass.

PS - More pictures of blondie please.

this marketing BS contradicts the MSDS chemical facts...maybe they do sell
baby wipes for butterflies that are EPA friendly, but it doesn't apply to glass cleaner

Good. Keep telling people to use it based on the one time you used it and some other people on interweb forums saying it worked. Who needs actual scientific results or results from professionals. It keeps guys like me in business.

I can find 20 websites in 5 minutes who say Elvis is alive and that using 0000 steel wool is good for glass.....still does not make it a fact.

    Its pretty simple.

Ask yourself, would I use sandpaper on my truck's windshield?

Its the same thing if you use steel wool or anything that polishes.

    well yeah

I understand what the steel-wool truthers are saying....but there is
no practical way to use it without causing damage...

On -clean- glass, steel won't harm it. but the problem is no glass
    is ever clean
, so when you use metal, it will surely grind whatever is already
on the glass, into the glass. and that is plain glass, not the coated stuff used in cars....

the only way to truly clean glass is non-abrasive surfactants, and then tons of
demineralized and distilled ordinary H20 until the H20 rinses off in one sheet with zero droplets.
this is how they clean telescope mirrors before coating with aluminum.

for all intents, if you are not going to use the glass for scientific measurements, razors and
steel wool can make it look clean, and for a car which will get pitted anyway, the point is really
moot. I can use a razor on my car for 14 years and the glass will still look really good. But yes on a
microscopic level, I am causing damage. do I care ? nope. does it really matter ? nope. it is
a damn car window that is going to see a ton of pits and damage from dust and sand anyway

hells bells if the glass is damaged to the point you can't see out of it, break it and replace it.

Thousands of microscopic scratches has the potential to weaken the glass, making it more susceptible to cracking, shattering, etc. We are talking safety glass, not tempered glass.

I have built telescopes in the past and polished mirrors.

No way in hell I would ever take that risk, especially when you can clean glass with non abrasive cleaners, like windex.
