Any suggestions for a brush guard for a 2012 Tacoma double cab?

You do know that brush guards are useless, right? Hit anything with them and you'll end up destroying the front end.

I think I've decided to go with the Aries 2012 version because I wanted one that would cover my bug shield

Check too see how many places the Aries Grille Guard is mounted on. Some of them are only mounted on in two spots. I know that the Westin Grille Guard is mounted on in 4 places and it is pretty sturdy.

They may not save you from a deer or a head on for christ sake but if you bump someone in traffic or hit pheasants and grouse of something they'll sure save you broken headlights, grills, etc. I dont know why everyone bashes them so much. They're definitely better than nothing. I had one until i put a body lift on and loved it but i think its gonna go on my mom's 4runner. If you cant afford a beefy bumper they're a great alternative.

Nothing wrong with them at all. And if your not going fast if you hit a deer theyll protect you a hell of a lot more than nothing.

They're a damage multiplier and they kill departure angles. Hit a deer with the corner of one and watch it fold into the entire front of your truck. The angled vertical support bar they all have will cave in with a minimal frontal impact and punch through your radiator. I see it all the time in accidents with deer. I'd rather replace the front bumper, grille and a headlight than the entire front end, fenders and hood, and be stranded on some back country road spewing coolant everywhere. Looking at the brackets and mounting points for that "Big Country" bar is fucking laughable...you seriously think that'll protect you from anything? That thing'll fold like a stick of Juicy Fruit if you so much as tap another vehicle, and the whole thing will cave in on your hood, fenders and bumper. Spend an extra couple hundred over the cost of a bush bar and get a proper replacement bumper if you want something functional. If you just want something to hang lights on and worry about the damage a shopping cart might do to you while doing some serious 'wheeling in the mall parking lot snow piles, by all means, get a bush bar.

Google "bush/brush guard damage" and you'll find some anecdotal evidence.

Brushguard were intended for what they are called.......driving through trail to protect headlights from brush. we are wayyyyyyy over anylizing this.
They do give a certain COOL look to a truck if you like that (I do) but you also have to keep in mind that in a frontal impact the steel is vertical and about 6 inches long it will absorb more than without it. Either way hitting a deer will do damage.....Ofcourse speed has alot to do w/ it to.....20mph wil be less than 40mph.
So it comes down to a matter of opinion. My opinon is I like the look and I feel a bit more protected.

A Grille Guard will provide some extra protection. Take a look.
