Brake or clutch? The clutch slave cylinder is super-easy to replace and takes @ 15 minutes if you are slow. Brake one takes much longer.

Now back to the beautiful Toys!

There may be another thread for this, but I was unable to find it. Just out of curiosity, what kind of MPG's do you with the 22re 4WD 5-Speed get? I am looking for a 90-94 Regular Cab with the 22re/4WD/5-speed and was wondering. I've seen ads on craigslist with similar trucks that claim upper 20's?? Just wondering if that's the case...

I had an '89 XtraCab 22RE/5spde on 32x11.50x15s and I got 25 mpg all day long. That was even with spark plugs with about 1/4 electrode left and crappy plug wires.

That's pretty damn good. I thought some of them were blowing smoke up my ass, but apparently, it is possible. Makes me want to get one even more now!

    2wd or 4x4?

I have done a bit to keep the MPG up and have never seen 25. I averaged just under 22 for the summer and am barely holding on to 17 this winter. Keep in mind I drive very "hypermiler" minded in the summer so most will probably see lower.

Avg I've seen for a 4x4 is more like 19, EPA is 18, heavily modded, forget about it.

I kept it pretty light and hardly did anything to it. I wish my Doublecab got that kind of mileage! Maybe I will scan a few pics in tomorrow if I get a chance.

I had a chance to make a quick sale on the '89 ($300 less than I paid for it and it developed the famed 22RE wrist pin tick) and go pick up a VERY clean FJ-60 when I had it. The only problem was the 60 got sold the day before I got back over to it! The really sick part is he only wanted $2300. '86, clena/no rust, loaded, mint interior 92k on it, stick. Eeek. I am getting sick all over again for missing that one!

When I sold the XtraCab I had a '91 4Runner 22RE/5spd. with @ 245k on it when I sold it. I dreamed of that thing getting the mileage the XtraCab got. It was probably right about the 19 mark also and that was on 31x11.50 BFG ATs.
