There is one guy on here who is building his 2TR. Curious to see how that turns out. There has been a 2JZ swapped into this body style. On a 4x4. As well as numerous LS engine swaps. Hmmmmm....decisions decisions......

What type of vehical inspections does Texas require? Because here in MO they require the OBD2 to be read which if you swap it'll read a different vehicle and VIN that what the truck shows and will fail you unless you can find someone to change all of that.

Sorry for being a buzz kill lol.

But the 2TR has a forged crank with some forged rods and pistons could turn into a mean sleeper and the 2.7L displacemnt would make the turbo spool faster than the most 4 cyls depending on your power level. Also remember both the 2jz and Ls motors cost about 3k for the engine and trans without install, so it'd be cheaper if you build the 2tr right than it would to buy and swap another engine most likely

Just the crank. Still need rods and pistons.

If the 2TR is anything like the 2rz/3rz, it will be a beast with a turbo.

    Lucky SOB lol

Just the crank like Torspd said, but i'd think it'd only be 1-1.2k for pistons and rods depending on compony. Also how are u with a welder? It would save alot of money

I would take the X-brace and put it on eBay as there are quite a few people looking for one :p

I agree with the previous posts in that the swaybar would be useful, but I doubt you'll see any benefit from the X-brace. For one, the X-Runner is a V6 that puts out whole-lotta horsepower compared to our 4-banger Taco, so perhaps the composite bed does flex a bit due to the higher horsepower and the longer frame that the X-Runner has (because it's an extended cab). If I'm not mistaken, the mounting points for the brace don't exist on non-X-runner trucks, so you'd have to have some kind of plates welded to your frame just to have some place to bolt the brace.

The X-Runner clone thingy has already been done... and done quite nicely I might add:

    IMG_0829_84b4f47baf09cb55632615748fe6db8bbc0a4ca0.jpg

I find it ironic that the owner of the above truck put all that work into it and then sold it to a used car dealer shortly after it was completed!

As for the QA-1's... I know everyone raves about them. However, it sounds to me like most people who get QA-1's do so because the shocks are adjustable and people adjust the dampening to prevent bottoming-out... especially when there is a load in the bed (of which really isn't the shocks job to do that, but I digress). If you're not going to do an insane drop (< 3 inches) and have a notch, are QA-1's still worth it? I've been a pretty big fan of Bilstein shocks for quite a while and they're a heck of a lot less expensive than the QA-1's. If performance is the goal and preventing bottoming-out is not, are QA-1's still superior to Bilsteins?

Does Bilstein make an adjustable shock? I cannot remember.

I know I looked and looked for some adjustable coilovers from them for the front. Couldn't find the proper one though. As much as I want to. For the rear, it would be pretty easy to find a properly sized shorter Bilstein, though. As those are plentiful.

For me, currently, QA1's are the best bet in the rear. Simply because I know they fit, they are available, and they are adjustable. So when I start hitting the road course, I can adjust them depending on the track needs.

KW was uninterested in helping find a proper front fitting coilover. But I am fairly positive one could find a set for the rear. AFCO is very helpful. They want to do some things done. ;)

We're pretty much limited to the X-Runner's Bilsteins for our truck. If you lower the rear of your truck using blocks, you don't need to get a shorter shock.

I have Bilstein coilovers on my car and Bilstein shocks + struts on my Gen 1 Tacoma and am quite happy with both. (Heck, I think I actually giggled when I first drove my car after putting on the coilovers :p ).

The rear X-Runner Bilstein shocks are only $36.47 each ($72.94 for both), so compare that to $289.99 for the QA-1s ($579.98 for both), and the QA-1's better doing something pretty darn special for 8x the price!!! Granted, you're getting adjustable dampening and a nice, chrome finish, but that's still a pretty hefty price.

Once again, if you're trying to prevent your axle from hitting the frame, I guess the QA-1 is a really expensive solution for that. However, I'm skeptical of the notion that the QA-1 is somehow going to make a truck's rear suspension perform radically better... especially since our trucks just have crappy leaf springs in back which is hardly a performance suspension setup to begin with.
