Went for a nice little ride with a female friend of mine riding bitch. It went pretty good except for about a mile from home. A minivan decides to tail me like I am going too slow. Mind you there are people in front of me so I am obviously not going anywhere.

When people tail me I slow down, they get irritated and pass me. So I slow down to like 10 mph and he finally passes me. He is of asian decent and has his wife in the car. Perhaps he is new to the country and doesn't know all the rules yet <shrug> He starts yelling at me and flipping me off. So I flip him off, speed up so he can't get ahead of me then. He decides to get back behind me because it's now the open lane.

I switch lanes because my turn is coming up. He comes up next to me and starts yelling at me and flipping me off, his wife has her cell phone going, my guess is a video camera....for what reason I have no idea lol. I start yelling back that he should learn how to drive and not tail gate bikers. Then he starts yelling, lets go, lets go. Like he wants to fight. I'm like is this idiot serious. He must be about 50 years old and wants to fight in the middle of the street.

If I didn't have my friend on the back I would have kicked his door in. Normally I wear my gloves with carbon fiber reinforced knuckles...damn, the only time I decide not to wear them I coulda used them lol.

But seriously, wtf is with cars and tail gating bikes. are people just that stupid.

It's not just bikes man...I was driving with my family today and had a guy try to merge into my lane (left lane) from the right lane after tearing thru traffic to get there....I was on cruise control and was already next to him when he tried to merge...so I went left and honked...Flipped him off for good measure.

Things settle out and he comes up next to me a bit down the road and starts yelling out his window like I can hear a word he's saying...I just down shifted and drove off.

People have no respect for others, refuse to take the blame/responsibility for their own stupid actions, and think that they can intimidate others to get what they want. All they really do is make the roads a dangerous place to be...all that much worse when you are on a bike.

nice bike, my cousin is thinking about getting the c50.

yea, if I see a cager tailing a bike I will work my way in and open up the gap:thumbsup:.

Theres been a couple deaths in the town lately, so I think cagers are starting to pay a little more attention, or at least I hope so.

+1-Florida has been a death trap for bikers and it is just finally becoming a big enuf deal to get laws enforced/changed to remedy the situation.

right there with you man. i ride my bike everywhere... more fun then driving and it pulls tail like no other. either way... i rode from san diego to vegas yesterday (roughly 340 miles) and every time i do it people seriously never cease to amaze me. the dumb ass little 17 year old boys in a honda civic with a fart can reving on me and trying to race... the dude in the benz that pushed me into the e-lane because he decided he wanted my lane... and at the same time he decided that i guess he didnt realize i have the power to punch his mirrors off of his car. so now he has one less mirror.... darn. yea... people need to realize us bikers more than likely know what the hell we are doin and we dont need them all on our ass.

its really amazing how everyone thinks they are the biggest baddest mofo once they are in their car. I am def. an aggressive driver if I am pushed...the difference is that I am not afraid to confront someone while just inside the car....whereas most people would run off with their tail between their legs if they weren't in their cars.

I noticed with the gas hike last year that there seemed to be twice as many bikes on the roads. really sucks when someone goes down because of an inattentive driver.

Young man-the first mistake you made was you didn't just let him go. That is SO hard to do but in this day and age it is the wise move, especially when you have someone in your care. I am only trying to impart the wisdom it has taken me YEARS to learn..plus all your toughness dont mean s**t with a bullet through it.

Yeah...I'm well trained in self defense, a CCW holder, and a pretty decent driver...so I'm pretty fearless when it comes to people who want to yell out their windows or try to follow me. It's sad that I have to think about it at all tho.

And yeah...The number of bikes sold has skyrocketed....sadly the number of licensed riders has continued it slow plod up. Poorly trained/Dangerous bikers don't help the rest of us get around safely.

Biker safety is a HUGE pet peeve/focus of mine- I was a safety officer at work and being a rider...I really get involved in it.

he hit traffic in the other lane since we were coming up to a red light. the only way he could have gotten in front of me was if I slowed down even more and I didn't feel like getting rearended.

IL is not a CC state, hell, they make it near impossible to get a damn gun out here. The likely-hood of someone carrying a gun in their car, in the suburbs is almost non-existent.

I appreciate the advice, but don't talk down like this is my first time out either ;) I travel 90 miles round-trip into the city, the bad neighborhoods, everywhere. I am not scared of some punk old man in a mini-van.

    guess idiots are everywhere.

first thing I did was take a bike course which is how I got my license. that was a good 7 years ago. my cousin just got his bike this year and already knows everything  no safetly class, and today he was saying how he was looking at the R1s. I told him to go riding with me and follow what I do...but he is always too busy it seems. I learned with a seasoned rider who used to race bikes. I picked up a ton of knowlege with that and the safety course.

Yeah...I've got about 4 years under my belt...Rode for the first 6 months without the class...but it's cause I was deployed for most of it...so I was doing short trips around town when I was home.
After I got the class and the military sport bike rider course, took a couple of track days, and rode with/tok pointers for some guys who have been riding like 15+ years...I feel like I know that there is alot that I don't know...

ahhh niiice... i like that most of you are taking pointers from people that have been riding much longer. i started at 8 years old on a lil ol' 50cc dirtbike and never looked back:) now i have about 13 years of riding dirtbikes and about 5 years on streetbikes. loving it, but im still learning. every day is a new day to learn something new, i take pointers from anyone and everyone that has the experience and know how...

as for the dude sayin his cousin is already lookin at r1's, kick him in the balls. i have 2 r1's and a 600. the liter bikes just sit here collecting dust. no one i know can outride a 600. no one. i dont give a fuck who you are... a 600 has more manueverability than anyone can match. there is a reason motogp is raced on 600cc bikes. tell him he is a fuckin retard.
