I've got a company truck so my wife uses the Tacoma in the snow and says it's pretty good, only had 6 inches today tho.

This was all my fault. Drift was much deeper than it looked.
I was trying to get out to the field in the background. There was much less snow out there.

Traction is great for me, but when the snow sets up hard as it always does, i tend to get high-centered

I have mixed feelings about the traction. I rarely slip or slide even when I want to and turn off the traction control. It's nice to have that feature but I'd like to be able to have some fun. Only time I can is when I find a completely untouched parking lot with a thin coat of ice beneath the snow. BUT I'm also not in a ditch some where so maybe I shouldn't complain.

Haven't gotten to test my Taco in snow yet. Haven't even gotten to drive it. Still sitting at my best friend's house, waiting for us to start working on it. :p
It never snows here, anyways. Rumor has it though, that it might tonight! :D I WANT SNOW!! GIMME SNOW! Last night, WVEC 13 was saying we should see a spot of snow for the first time this year- They were calling for 1.8 in. snowfall at first, then it went up to 3.5. But of course, the ground is still warm and sopping-ass wet right now from our 3-4 day rain. So they called for only a dusting-2 in. to stick, if anything. :p

Not a lot of snow where I'm at, but I've not had to have the Green Lantern in 4WD even in 6" of snow or ice yet. Does well so far with crappy OEM tires.

    ^ This

My 05 has gotten me in, around and through anything the northeast winters have thrown at me. Also, it has pulled multiple fords, chevy's, etc out of trouble. I have never and will never own another truck.

I did fine in huge snowstorms in Colorado with my Gen I, so I figure the Gen II will do fine also, topnotch ground clearance. The caveat of course is tires. I'd have chains on the rear wheels with this Gen II since it has the stock Dunlops. Not gonna power through 24" of snow with stock Dunlops.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
This is the most misconceived statement out there, pure ignorance. The F150 has been the best selling truck in the US for like 40 years. There must be a good reason for that. My grandfather bought a 79 new and drove it for the rest of his life and never had any major issues with it, had over 300k on it when he passed away. As far as tough durability goes, Ford cannot be beat, Built Ford Tough was not some fancy catchy slogan they thought up, it was earned.

Serious engineering goes into every vehicle and they are all really quite impressive pieces of machinery. They all have flaws. Shit goes wrong on every automobile. Depends a lot on how it has been treated.

My 07 Double Cab SR5 did pretty good in the snow, even with open differentials. I'm about to get a 2013 Double Cab TRD and can't wait to see how it does in the snow - assuming we ever get any again. It has been extremely dry the last three years here in Colorado Springs. We're lucky if we can get even 1/2" of snow.

Bought my 09 last april, first snow yesterday and it did pretty good i suppose...had no trouble getting anywhere...slid a lot but i blame that on the truck being so light...definitely will try to add weight to the bed next time it snows
