I own firearms and my head is on somewhat strait. That's just plain lies. One can not argue with facts collected over many many years. For someone with your experience and background I'm not impressed with the slander at all. People making statements like this make gun owners look bad.

Fact: Keeping a gun in the home increases the risk of homicide, suicide and unintentional deaths.

How ironic. Pretty crazy how you've been in the army for max two years and you have a "zulu" identifier.

Knives have no stopping power of any merit, unless you are damn lucky or an expert in knife fighting.

Stick a knife in me, almost anywhere....I will just get more pissed off and then really start an attack.

Yup I may bleed out and die, but that takes a lot of time, enough time for me to really get pissed.

Knives do not stop. Bullets stop.

yes, if you lock your gun up and never touch it there is 0% chance anyone will be harmed.. like I said even if it's .01% wait no lets make it this .000000000000000001% chance.. there is still a chance thats all I'm saying. I'm not saying dont own a gun, I own a couple, however I know that there is some danger in owning a gun and like I keep saying shit happens..

Actually I would like this, as I would report him as presenting himself as one with a zulu identifier. A "zulu" identifier is given to senior NCO's in a field. At 20yo and being in the NG...theres no fucking way.

Depends on where the bullet hits you. Same is true with a knife. A vital hit with a knife will stop a person. A miss with a bullet will not do a damned thing.

Yep......and a decade is not long enough for statistical data to be conclusive  Need to spread that out over 100 years

I have no idea why so many people aren't willing to even have a factual conversation on these matters without going full tard or stating inaccurate data from unreliable sources.

    To much of this :tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat:

And not enough of this I guess :pccoffee:

Journal of Preventative Medicine... that's an informed, unbiased source...

Is there a danger to keeping a weapon in your home? Yes - unless you're a fully functioning adult who can responsibly control access to an inanimate object. I have an ample collection of firearms, as you probably guessed. I also have a child and children are in my house all the time. When I'm home, all but one are locked up in the safe. The one that is out is on my person. It's that simple.

I've been to the houses of people who have accidental or negligent injuries caused by firearms. They're not the type of people I'd trust with a butter knife, let alone with a firearm. If we limited everyone's rights based on their stupidity, we would also need to remove all sources of open flames, sharp objects, and controlled substances from everyone's home as well.

Firearms are the tool of choice for suicide. I don't see why that should limit my access to firearms.

    That's ironic given your signature.

73% of people know that 32% of all statistics are made up anyways.

Vital hit with a knife is extremely hard to do. You need to get
up to the attacker and deal with the flurry of bullshit coming at you,
and still aim it correctly and avoid most bones.

Gun=blam from across the room, instantly both of you are deaf, but
you are the one who knows what is happening

so blam blam blam until resolved.

    ----
Oh yeah, I am a military trained expert marksman (just means I can put a round on a target, that's all)
...for what it is worth, and currently have zero guns. I don't expect a need to use a gun again in my life, ever again. that's how I roll.

However I do miss target shooting....might take that back up. or not.

finally, all guns are always loaded. If a friend breaks the barrel, check for a round, sees it empty, and hands
it over to you for inspection...if you do not also check that weapon for a loaded round, you are a knob.

I think a huge problem is that there are too many firearms owners who have the Call of Duty or Movie hero persona. I've seen it time and time again at public ranges. Idiots with a $1500 M4 wasting lead and rapid firing to try and be louder and prouder than the next guy....and they cant hit shit! Not marksmen....Idiot gun owners. These are the types I avoid.

    Exactly!

You never said you were in the NG, I assumed based on your age and your location as there are no AD army posts in PA. Also, I do know what I'm talking about as I'm retired US Army. Look up article 134 of the UCMJ. If you are trying to pass yourself off as this high speed low drag shooter guy who "trained by top army shooters" you should make sure you know what the hell you're talking about.

Experienced gun owners have accidents as well... To say the risk is 0 is absolutely false and to make the generalized statement that just because you know 2 idiots who have had incidents doesn't mean everyone that has an accident doesn't know what they're doing with firearms. Firearms can be dangerous, there's no 2 ways about it and accidents do happen. People become complacent, lazy, whatever, shit happens and not just to inexperienced, ignorant gun owners. To think you have 0 risk when handling your own gun is nothing short of arrogance.
