I just got a 95 Tacoma sx 3.4 v6 with 150,000mi. Everything is sound except valve cover is leaking. Changing the gaskets tomorrow. Was interested in any ideas to enhance performance for offroad fun. New to 4x4s as far as owning one myself. But any suggestions would be great. Also trying to stay rather inexpensive. Don't need a log of flash just want to have fun without breaking anything. Ty

Tires, suspension, buddies that 4x4, and money for when shit breaks/upgrades.
Tons of good suggestions and reading material on this site.

Cool truck. I had a white one 11-12 years ago. V6 regular cabs are somewhat rare. They stopped making them in 97. If you want to go offroad I would start with a good set of 31" all terrain or mud tires. That will make the biggest difference and they will bolt right on. A V6 regular cab has plenty of power. I ran a 4" lift and 33" tires on mine with no other mods and it was awesome. Besides the lack of cab space of course. I sold it to buy my FJ40.

Thanks. Was curious about a lift but wasnt sure which one to get
I've heard the body lifts make the ride shitty should i go with a full suspension lift or split it or what? And whats the average cost for that. Just curious.

And just to post this, I traded a 99 Tahoe 4x4 with same mileage for this Tacoma. Even if it was a bad deal I love the truck. Even trade.

How much do you want to spend for a lift.
They come in all price range, what you pay is what you get.

That's a very rare, and awesome truck. I had one myself a while back. I'd start with some new wheels, and maybe a small lift. Otherwise, leave it as is.

Nice truck, I have a 1996 standard cab V6 myself and used to have those same decals. Buckets or bench? Grey/blue or Oak interior? E-Locker?...to all you naysayers yes it was an option before TRD came to market. The rear leaf packs are a bit shorter on the 95.5-97 Tacomas. This makes options slightly limited unless you remove your current hangers and shackle mounts and replace in different location to allow installation of 98-04 leaf packs, if new leaf packs are the direction you want to go.

I have buckets and i think they are blue/gray. E-locker? Im guessing that to lock in fwd. No i have manual locking hubs. I am going to remove the decals and repaint t it. Not big on the purple color. Sorry, im new to 4x4s but im feeling my calling with this one. I went out yesterday and hit a few light mud holes but now have a loud whiningnoise on what i think is one of my pulleys . Or atleast thats where im gonna start. Has anyone experienced this before?

The E-Locker has nothing to do with manual locking hubs. It is a rear differential lock to aid in traction. If you have a button to the left of the steering column that reads "RR DIFF LOCK" you have an E-Locker.

Then no. I don't. This truck is just standard everything. Regular locks and Windows etc. I wasn't even sure that they put them in the 95.

Not that I see. The frame looks good. A lil bubbling on the undercoat but it's never seen salt

That truck looks so clean i would not want to do too much to it, or even off-road too much to where you might damage it. Good find!

The one I had was a 95.5 that I bought in 01 with 80k on it. It was white with an oak interior that had buckets. It was an SX but it had zero options outside of alloys and 31's. No tach, console, or even a/c. Didn't even have intermittent wipers. It was a cool truck that was super-clean. The thing didn't have so much as a footprint inside the bed when I bought it. Unfortunately I couldn't deal with a regular cab and I sold it in less than a year.

Yes. The regular cab is a lil annoying but over all good for me. Has ac option but the ac compressor was making a horrible aqueel when truck was running. It didn't work any way so I cut the belt off. Has intermediate wipers, but no tach or console. About to custom build one I guess. Had speaker box behind seat but pulled that out and put one back in it to fit just between the bucket seats so I didn't lose any leg room.
