What Rear Differential Fluid for 2011 DC 4X4 Sport

Ok, I've searched the forum but I'm still not settled on what differential fluid I should go with on my first (30,000 mile) rear differential oil change. The guy at the dealership said that I did not need a limited-slip additive.

Could I hear from some other 2011 4X4 Sport owners on what they use.

If on the street primarily I recommend 80-90, if you offroad a lot I would recommend using the 75-140 to reduce shock loads and for more protection to the gears at the cost of greater parasitics since the oil is thicker and therefore resists movement a bit more.

Redline synthetic. End. Of. Story.

Redline products are the only ones on the market to use 100% synthetic base stocks. Their stuff is known to be the best of the best, and many people even swear it's overkill even for hardcore racing.
When I told the guy ringing me up what I was using it for (all three gearboxes on my 4x4 Taco), he told me he doesn't expect to see me again for another three years at the earliest -- he said it should last me a good 50,000 miles easily, and still give better protection than even Mobil1 changed out on schedule. Of course, having been a Redline user for many years, I already knew this.

Btw- I used Redline in my last minitruck. Changed the oil once a year. Never changed the gearbox oils again. Dude who bought it from me had his mechanic look the truck over, and ask when the transmission had been replaced. The answer was never -- it looked new enough to fool a good mechanic. The gear oils had 125,000 miles on it......and I got the truck with 60,000 on the clock.

I have no affiliation with Redline. I'm just a really happy, long-term user of their stuff.

 

Well, changed the oil yesterday. Ending up using Valvoline

$30 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75w-90 synthetic.

However, I think I may have a problem...the manual says the rear diff oil capacity is 3.12 qts. I ended putting around 3 and 1/2 qts. in mine before it started to run out of the fill hole. Now I'm worried that I've overfilled it and could blow out an axle seal.

Should I drain out some of the oil?

 

Just use mobile 1, I have had in all my front, rear diff, transfer with no issues, 2011 trd 4x4 lockers all around @ 39k miles, never an issues.
