I saw a military H1 on 880 yesterday pulling a trailer. Both rigs were painted camo and followed by a Unimog or something like it. Way cool looking!

Anyone want a free OEM air filter? Just picked up a K&N. Im just gonna throw it away if no one wants it. It has about 4000 miles on the filter.

Pulled it out of my 2nd gen 6cyl.

Just a word of warning. If you don't properly clean & oil the filter, you will get dust and or filter oil that passes through the filter and ends up on the MAF...so get a can of MAF cleaner and be prepared to take care of that every second time you clean the filter.

Thanks for the heads up! How often are you guys cleaning your filter? I will probably check it when I change my oil. I was thinking every two or three oil changes yea? I know it will probably fluctuate based on the conditions you drive in.

I check mine every oil change. But if I've been to a dusty place, I will check when I get home. I usually clean it every other month at least.

I have been thinking about going back to the paper filter. Why? First is the additional effort to clean the MAF. It's hard to see in a photo but there can be a fair amount of filter oil on the wires. Second, cleaning the filter is messy and takes time-you need to clean the filter and allow it to dry before re-oiling and replacing it. In the summer, it's not that big a deal but in the winter it takes forever to dry. Last, based on the crap that builds up on the MAF, I'm not convinced it's doing as good a job filtering the air as a paper filter does.

Can anyone explain to me what this does?
    http://www.12voltguy.com/DUAL-BATTERY-KIT.html

With my dual setup I was just going to leave the second battery there, with the first one to power everything oem. With the second I would wire a fuse box and have my lights, light, a few more lights, maybe a compressor?, a cb? iono i would just like the aftermarket parts isolated.

Let's say you do that. When you start the truck or run the accessories, they'll run off of both batteries regardless of which battery they're connected to.

If you use an isolator, you can separate the batteries so running the winch (for example) doesn't drain both batteries. You can isolate using a simple switch or something more complex. Some systems allow you to leave both batteries connected and when one drains, the system isolates the other so you don't end up without power-lots of options to choose from.
