    No disrespect, but have you ever driven an XR with QA1's, or a PreRunner that has been lowered with the TR kit and has QA1's? I promise you it is a night and day difference.

    For the PreRunner, possibly in Kase's case (lol) it might be necessary to run a shorter shock. I ran the XR bilsteins on mine and it was a drastic improvement over the factory 4x4 non bilstein super soft shocks. One ended up being worn out due to age, so I swapped in the PreRunner bilsteins, which are obviously longer.

    I never really checked to see if they bottomed out prior to hitting the bump stops, when I had the TR drop kit installed. But when I swapped to my new rear drop, they certainly bottomed out prior to the bump stops.

    Point is, that Kase just check to make sure that his don't bottom out, and if they do, as set of XR bilsteins minimum are in order. And I agree. They are quite a bit cheaper than the QA1's.

    I have not been in a vehicle with QA-1's installed, so your input is appreciated. I can certainly understand that QA-1's are vastly superior to the soft, OEM shocks. However, are they still vastly superior to Bilsteins? I'd have to assume that only a limited number of people have had both Bilsteins and QA-1's to compare... and then justify the 8x increase in cost. Nearly $600 is really steep for simple shocks... that's approaching coil-over costs.

    I'm very gun-shy these days about spending hundreds of dollars on automotive products based on people's online opinions that aren't backed-up with any king of proof. I've done this in the past and have often been deeply disappointed (and much poorer!) I think that a lot of what we buy is simply based on, "this is what all the cool kids (online) are buying, so it must be good".

    If QA-1's are actually vastly superior than all other shock options for our trucks, then so be it, but my wallet is requiring some proof of that :D

    I think you might have interpreted the price wrong on the QA1's. It is $289 for the pair. From www.xiiperformance.com A little more expensive from QA1 directly.

    I really wish that there were more known options available. Just that one person/company did the research for the QA1s, and that is what everyone goes with. Kind of sad, but true.

    I would really like some Ohlins. A full set. Mmmm

    Aaaahhh... you're right.... "Includes 2 shocks" <Insert "embarrassed" smily here!> Well, suddenly the QA-1's do seem a bit more reasonable ;) They're still considerably more than the Bilsteins, but at least you're getting something for the additional cost (adjustable dampening, chromed finish, rebuild-able).

    I have adjustable QA1 coilovers up front and Calvert Racing axle perches out back. For the SUA. Much lower than the TR kit.

    12 Performance is working on some adjustable coilovers. But they haven't set a release date yet.

    When I was switching to my qa1's, I put a wrench on it and it snapped with hardly any torque. It was the longest part off the whole process just to get the passenger side shock off.

    You know the very top of the shock, the part that isn't threaded. That is what I was talking about.

    The front bilsteins on Toon's TRD PreRunner had a blue rubber cover/boot over the shaft. It was fairly easy to remove. For obvious reason.

    It is most likely just a tight fit at the top where the nut goes? Might be able to tap it off? IDK.

    Kase, can take a picture of the top where the boot is attached? A better angle than the other pictures. It will help us help you figure it out.
