True true well either way ill see what happens to say at this point I'm just being honest about everything if the repairs are over 1000 then I'm definitely going through insurance but id still rather not have a police report as I don't want a ticket or something stupd whatever though

Fuck the body shop. Is there not a capable person at home that can put the parts on for them? You could buy the parts and they can install them.

Honestly I would install it , it's a damn fender and blinker , but I'm off in college no tools or anything and her "daddy" only agreed to the no insurance no cops thing if we took it to a shop... Parts are like 480, not ridiculous for a
Fender and a whole new one piece headlight assembly but they want like 500 for labor!? Wtf lol it's like a 2 hour job

You are forgetting its not just time to install the fender and headlight but time to paint the fender , possibly blend the door and also aim the headlight. 1000 is right on point for that repair...

You hit a parked truck. Stop being "annoyed" and let it go through insurance. If you don't want it to go through insurance, then pay it and move on. When you cause damage to someone elses property you don't get to bitch, moan and complain about how they get it fixed. Usually you say "sorry" and fix it.

    Fucken Agreed.

Guys, let's try not to encourage the little ones here to try to cop out of their responsibilities. The country already has too many self entitled little bitches.
Let's raise some men with self respect and respect for others.

Good thing you stopped ... if you didn't and someone got your tag ... big problems at school and with school and local PD.

With a new fender and etc ... that can run a lot of money ... maybe insurance is a better option.

Yes, she is not within the lines ... but you were moving and backing up too ... so it will probably be tagged as your fault.

Her parents see a new Ford damaged and want to pin you down as "at fault" at the beginning (something most parents would do).

Be glad you stopped ... you could have been kicked out of school and in jail with a "hit & run, felony property damage record" (for the rest of your life) if you didn't stop. (Felony conviction = no voting & no gun for life , IIRC).

Small things can get real big if you let them grow ... over $1,000.00 in damages in some states can be a felony. You did the right thing in stopping & leaving a note.

I guess you guys didn't read the thread? I didn't hit it and run I'm paying I just think it's stupid to involve cops like they have better shit too today and a insurance? Well it's going to go up probsbly 50 a month so I would rather just pay the 1k and keep a clean record

Yeah but then you said u should of run. And ur bitchin about paying. Put yourself ur their shoes. I'm not saying u don't have skills but they don't know that. What if somebody hit you and swears they paint fenders in their garage all the time. I'm pretty sure you would want to take it a body shop to. Im not sure what kind of ticket you would get. The police are just a third eye and put down a report incase you bail. They would have something to show there insurance that they didnt just hit a tree and claim it was somebody else. Because your deductable would be less.

You won't get a ticket for it.

An officer has to personally witness an infraction taking place.
You can walk up to a cop and tell him that you hit 95 on the freeway last night and he can't cite you for it.

It can be different when there is an accident, but not days later.
And the cite is based on the officer's observation of the accident scene... not merely taking the word of the involved parties.
